1D from Delta is here!

I promised that I would let some forum members know when the 1D arrived from Delta in New York.

I ordered Sunday and it arrived today. The battery is just charging so I have to be patient:0(

I am taking a day's holiday from work tomorrow but will let those who are interested know how the camera performs etc.

Hi Noob,
I plan on doing just that.
I keep pinching myself to make sure I'm not dreaming.

As a buyer living in the UK, I have nothing but praise for the way that Delta handled my order. I dealt with a lady called Anna and she was just great.

Now as long as the camera is functioning ok, I will be a very 'happy bunny' with lots of questions for all you 1D owners ;0)

Denise -

You will absolutely love it. I've only had mine a couple of weeks but I can tell you it will be a treat. I, too was worried about the weight. I use a 100-400mmL lens often times without a tripod. It only took one afternoon to get used to. I also got mine from Delta and it was a perfect transaction. Go outside, shoot pictures and have fun. Congratulations.

I couldn't wait for the batteries to charge so I hooked it up to AC and started right away. Luckily the AC power connector is separate with the 1D so you can do this without impacting battery charge.
Have fun and looking forward to seeing what you can do!

after the VAT and all ?

As someone who is considering doing the same, I'd be interested to know.

And how exactly does the guarantee stand up in the UK ?

Enjoy it. I had a loan of one a few weeks back from a friend at Canon UK - didn't want to give it back !

You can steady use it after the first charge. Just be sure to condition it the next two times you go for a charge. It's the same as letting the conditioner run it down -- only more fun. So I've been told when I asked -- I think it was the canon rep (chuck westphall) who replies on the robgalbraith forum.

It means to draw the battery down totally dead & recharge(there is a condition button on the charger)

Hi Roz,
I'm not surprised you didn't want to give it back.

To say I'm happy is the understatement of the year. Maybe the look on my face will be different when I finally get my cc bill though.

Seriously though, the whole experience has been a pleasure. As I said, Anna was so helpful and although I was only charged $51 for Fedex she said it would be sent priority overnight at no extra cost so even with customs clearance it arrived today.
I reckon I will have saved about £900 in all.
I have not yet paid the VAT so I guess that bill will arrive shortly.

The warranty seems to a 3 year extended one. Will let you know more on that when I've spoken to Delta.
So far, so good.
