And some good stuff behind the camera!

Any post processing to make it look like that. Or is that how it really looks?

I can see how it would be hard to make this out against certain terrains.

Jay,

I had to do some post processing to bring the colors out. I have noticed over the years that the aircraft have more of a blue tint when flying at altitude. I imagine that with less atmosphere and a sun that is stronger the cool portion prevails in the color spectrum. So with some work you can bring out the details and colors that you would see on the ground.

Thanks for the comments.

Jeremy,

That looks like a stunning balance of exposure for a difficult subject. If I'm seeing it right, this must be the shadow side of the plane. Shadow on leading edge of the tail fin might be giving away something of a single-shot HDR type treatment, but overall effect is very good - perhaps the resize to web has also given an edge emphasis that gives a bit of a cutout feel to the plane. If it was me I'd tone it down a notch, but it wouldn't be me because I'd never get to take the shot in the first place!

Enjoyed your images over the years and this is a classic.

Thanks for the comments.

I did use some Tonal Contrast on the image. It really helps to bring out the shadows. However, It does give the HDR feel. The original seemed a touch flat and needed some contrast work. It might have been a touch too much. I was working on a new monitor and have not ironed out all the kinks.

Did you look at some of the other shots in the gallery. I was wondering if the others were the same, a touch too strong.

Again, thanks for the comments on my work. I hope to keep shooting and posting.

The others don't show the same HDR feel although the odd halo as others have commented.

If I was editing the series I would choose shots 3 and 5 over 4 and 6 respectively. 3 has better texture in the background and better exposure and contrast on the plane's surface. 5 is just stunningly perfect in composition - some very strong angles and wonderful detail throughout the frame. For ostensibly the same subject, 6 is not nearly as strong.
