I just got my F707 the other day and I was expecting to get a 16MB Stick and to my surprise they had included an 8MB. I dont really care because I bought the 128MB anyways, but do you think this is something Sony did or something the place I bought it from did. If it was either really I think it is fair to see what i can get out of them for thier mistake.

So far the camera has so many more real photography features over my old Nikon 885, hopefully I will be able to pick them up quickly.

The F707 shipped with 8M stick.
The F717 ships with 16M stick.
I think it even says so somewhere on the outside of the box.

Your not going to take my picture with that Nikon are you?

My mistake, I swore I read on this site that they both came with the 16MB stick. Oh well. Also one more thing is it supposed to come with a lens cap string? Mine did not.

Ian

Hmm, my F707 came with a 16M stick. Maybe some of the older models shipped with 8M sticks, and the newer ones with 16M sticks (I bought mine in June of this year).

Went and crawled around in the closet untill I found the old box mine came in.

You're right it came with a 16M stick. Even says so on the outside of the box. I never used it, it's still in the box.

I knew that they had doubled the stick size from 707 to 717 and when he said that it had the sony seal on it.......I just assumed.

Bad dog! Baaad dog!

Wonder now if he has a refurbished unit or what?

To follow up on this whole thing. I checked and it was supposed to come with a 16MB stick like LM2 said. The factory seal was BROKEN when I got the camera and the paint on the zoom switch is worn. I contacted the place I bought it from, if they take no action I will dispute it on my credit card.

Thanks guys

Ian

Sounds like instead of a gray market, you got a used 707. So you should be charged the used price, not new price. I assume that used is still lower than new even with the 717 out now.

I believe some bad internet dealers will change somthing inside the
box before they ship the camera out.
I remember when I was looking for a dealer to buy my F717, there were
some dealers said that this F717 includes only a 16mb MS. Don't
know if you just bought something like this...

Just got home and looked at the box one more time. Has anybody seen a sticker on the outside that has a barcode on it as well as a number like this:

Aud233445 G1 8324
SVID0113132BB2
Do not remove this label. with a QC passed sticker next to it.

I am beginning to think more and more that I recieved a used unit. They sold it to me as a NEW unit for $669. Has anyone had to dispute something on their credit card before?

You need to document everything. You need to give the seller an opertunity to make things right. Save any corespondence so you can prove to your credit card company that you tried to let them fix the situation. It is sad to say but you could end up eating the s&h... Don't do it willingly though. Call your credit card company and they will tell you what to do.

To follow up. I waited 2 weeks for a return email or phone call and got nothing. I contacted my CC company and simply asked what my next course of action would be. They quickly said no problem we will just dispute it, if nothing else it will get them moving. SO for evidence I took pictures of all the things wrong: Wrong mem stick, warm paint on zoom switch, and broken Sony sealk when I received it.

Hopefully my case is strong. Thanks for all the input.
