S30 Pans: AEB and Manual Mode?

Hi,
I own an S30. Recently I have become interested in 3 things:

1. Stitching photos together to create large panoramas (gaining inspiration from Max Lyons in particular.)

2. Using the AEB bracketing feature to increase dynamic range, by exposure blending in Photoshop.

3. Possible blending of 3 identical photos also (taken at same exposure) in order to decrease noise.

I am wondering (doubting) if it is possible to set my S30 to take 3 photos at 0EV, then another 3 photos at -1EV and +1EV (i.e. 9 identically composed photos), before recomposing the view for the second image (another 9 photos) in the stitch, which would have to be exposure locked to the first. What do you think would be the easiest way of achieving this? Would manual mode be the only way of allowing me to keep the exposure the exact same between each "mini-set" of photos? In order to take three identical photos (for noise reduction), would it help to set the shooting mode to rapid shoot(?) so that I dont have to touch the camera and knock it off slightly? Would AEB work simultaneously to this? The AEB function would be more important to me in panoramas than the noise reduction method- any tips to getting AEB'd stitch sets would be greatly appreciated!

with AEB set to 0, -1, +1. Then you would shoot a three-shot burst for each section of the pan. You'd then have three complete panos when stitched, with one being at 0, one at +1 and one at -1.

BUT, I do this without AEB and generally pick an exposure that is correct for the middle image. This lets the side images go where they may, but they match the initial image at the edges.

Steve, you can do what you want using Manual mode plus High-speed continuous mode. You'll need a good tripod though.

Set the exposure then fire off 3 shots. Then adjust the exposure and retake 3 more shots. Adjust again and 3 more shots. It should take about 30 sec to get the series of 9.

Remember...3 shutter or 3 aperture clicks = 1 EV...

Your method seems the only practical solution, since AEB is in fact not available in manual mode (cant think why?). However using these means, I shall, as you say, have to invest in a very secure tripod since my hands have to be touching the camera throughout- both holding my hand on the shutter button for the period of high-speed continous shooting, and then afterwards for changing the exposure settings. Also, the 2 second shutter delay cannot be accessed either in high-speed continous mode- not ideal for stability!

Minus the use of AEB, various exposures will be useful in some panoramas for allowing me to bring out extra detail in blown out skies, shadowy hollows, etc.
Thanks for your all of your feedback.

Steven, I didn't think of this before...you could do this using the computer to control the camera...if you have a laptop and the interest, since this would be kinda a pain. However, it'd fix the camera shake problems.
