I was a pretty desperate yesterday trying to find something to do to avoid studying and this was what I came up with. Tell what you think.

Jay,

First make sure your canvas is bigger than your photography. I just used the blending options in Photoshop. I used the drop shadows options (distance = 25; spread = 5; size = 30) and the stroke option (color = red; size = 4px). You should adjust these variables to what is appropriate for your picture as they depend on the overall dimensions of your picture. Feel free to e-mail me if you have any questions.

Very nice image

I also like the frame

Would you be kind enough to tell me how to achieve the frame

Best

Jonlg,

I really like the concept, but the blurring of the backgrounds seems to end too abruptly right at the level of the Cross' shadow. You probably want the audience to focus on the Cross and the shadow it casts, but the way the background was blurred (it's too uniform from the top of the frame all the way down to where it ends) is distracting. Just my opinion of course, but overall, very nice pictures.

That background blur is the lens at 2.8, and thus the overall image has shallow DOF. The blur appears uneven because it is I guess, concrete meeting the grass, no merge. Viewers focal point can be anywhere, as it's more about your interpretation of the image. Sorry you had to look so hard : )

Anyway, more an absract piece or statement than a pretty picture, thus the reason for burning the B&W.
Art? should offer a visual challenge.
