Hurry Up NIKON give us a D4!

Usually the people that start threads like this one have no pictures in their galleries. they are more interested in the latest and greatest instead of taking pictures. We have some great Nikons now and a new one will probably not give you any better pictures than you are taking now.

It's a gear forum and he has his own website with pictures.

Agree.

And his pictures were really quite good, as are his post processing skills.

All my camera gear is Nikon and I currently have the D700. 12MP isn't enough for some of the agencies that I use so I have to upsize. If the replacement is 18MP that would be enough for me and the camera will last me many years.

However if Nikon is sticking rigidly to replacing their pro bodies every 4 years could they be losing sales to their competitors. If I was someone with no brand loyalty looking to buy a FF camera I would probably go to a company that has or is about to have the latest camera. With Nikon being so silent about any release for any cameras it could be this year ,next year who knows. Would I be prepared to wait just in case. I don't think so and once spending into a camera system I wouldn't want the expense of moving to another.
So come on Nikon just a little hint is all I ask

Applying bad PP skills to D4 files will not give better results either.

the photos are over-processed, many of them are plastic doll like.

I've been following your last three contributions to this thread, and I have to say that you are one of the most insensitive people I've ever seen here.

Curtis' work is excellent. I'd recommend him to anyone without hesitation.

As far as I can see, you're not even a photographer yourself. So why do you have a dog in this one?

No, for those things you obviously have to whine and ***** in a forum like a little girl... :-)
I thought this was a cruel and predatory for you to say. What did the OP do for you to suggest that he was "a little girl"? Is there something that characterizes him as effeminate? I didn't catch that.

WOW! Id like to thank you for the comments guys but this should show how we as people are so uptight over something so silly as Me saying to this form Hurry up Nikon give us the D4 Wow! I don't need to prove my skills to anyone but my paying clients as I don't think any brides 2b are on here. if so look me up LOL But Guys! get a grip as this world is getting hostel as this is freaking photographers forum. Im sure a lot of you will agree it seems that nikon is spending too much importance with all the small point and shoot cameras cool pix etc than they are on the fx side of things. I have 2 D3s and LOVE them I have also worn them out and its time for two new bodies for me to replace and I just wish nikon would hurry up so I can replace them! I did get the D7000 and yes its nice and good for video as well as pictures but it feels like a toy in my hand compared to the pro bodies that Im used too. The D3s could use a little better focusing in my view and maybe a few extra mega pix. Again what other REAL photographer on here can't wait until the day we look on NIKON rumors and see D4 shipping! ?

I'll be in line the minute it's announced. Any new capability is an opportunity for me to get a competitive edge and do new things.

Wait for all the "A Holga is even better then a D3s in the good hands" and all the other regulars to attack you, just like they did to me.

The thing is, in dpreview, it seems that too many of the regulars are Trolls but since they're a huge gang, the little user just can't ask a question without being massively attacked.

Oh yeah, soon you will start to receive requests from Roman Johnston and his friends for a shootout where they'll propose you to use your D4 while they will use their lowly D70 and still beat you.
I've seen it happen to me. Incredible but true.

Oh, I didn't know that "Nikon is dragging its ass" "nikon hurry the hell up!" is a sensitive way to start a thread. I will keep that in mind

Surely you're not suggesting the OP hurt the sensitive feelings of a multinational corporation. Surely this doesn't compare with what you did.

They are waiting for the Olympics - historically, the Dx sport / PJ camera has followed the Summer Olympic schedule. The next summer games is in London in 2012 - look for announcement in mid-late 2011. This would give them a chance to get camera bodies and new lenses into the accredited photographer's hands.

If the D4 delivers on the rumours of a new radically different and improved AF system and more pixels with same or better ISO performance as the D3s - good luck getting your hands on one till after the Olympics - unless you are NPS and an accredited photojournalists or willing to pay above MSRP prices.

Don't know if anyone remembers the D3 launch and the allocation games Nikon (at least in Canada) played with those bodies and the 24-70 F2.8 and 14-24 F2.8 lenses.

What could really be improved in the time of film? Better focusing? OK, but would you change model because the focusing was a tad better. I remember when the Canon A1 came out. Sweet camera. It had shutter priority AND aperture priority, and a full LED readout in the viewfinder ... awesome. Three years later pretty much all SLRs had it. And that was pretty much it for innovation. Now, you're talking more MP and better low light ability, video quality (whether you care about it or not) and a sloo of digital enhancements. It's not just a new camera body; it's a new SENSOR. It's tantamount to a new film coming out that would let you shoot in half (or a quarter) of the light. You think photographers wouldnt' have been giddy about that? The problem was that chemical priniples didn't allow for film to become twice as sensitive every 3 years. Sensor technology does (or at least has til now). Plus throw in the considerable microchip advancements that you have every 3 years and you get new models that really are considerably more evolved than those released 3 yrs prior. This was simply not the case prior to the digital age.

I think that YOU need to RELAX a little, Curtis.

Nikon work in 4 year cycles , and thats fast compared to the film camera era, when it was about 9 years or so.

Have a look at CANON"S time frame down the bottom of the page here .

and, compare them to Nikon as well

Have a nice day :-)

You said it, man!

Although, I really can't decide now if I want them to release a D4 now or maybe in, erm, may or maybe july? No, i think i'd prefer september, definitely.

Anyway, my post was only about inflating an already inflated and pointless but somehow entertaining thread. Don't take it personally and have a good time.

On a personal note: if it ain't got HD video i won't buy it. What are Nikon thinking anyway?!
