Hi there, folks.

While many of us are developing our skills to achieve the level of detail, brightness and color that Phil achieves on a regular basis with any of the cameras that he reviews, you can have a look at these albums to see what real-world performance ordinary users like ourselves are achieving with the F505V digital camera. Hopefully most of the links still work:

Hi Ulysses,

We haven't talked for a while! Good work on maintaining a gallery list. I've a few more for your collection if you're interested. These tend to grow whenever I stop taking pictures long enough to upload ;^)

My original 505 gallery (this will soon also contain 505V shots, but it is segregated for now):
http://www.geboren.com/photopage.html

505V fireworks gallery (for some reason Zing won't let me upload any more pics for this one. I still have 30 or so that I'm trying to get included in this):
http://www.zing.com/album/?id=4293930851

505V self portrait page (all is vanity! - actually, these illustrate some limited "multiple exposure" capability tricks with the 505V):

I'm happy to see you're enjoying the new camera! Good coke vs pepsi story too ;^)

Hi there Brent -

I know what you mean about having time to upload!! Sometimes when I have a lot to post at a time, I wait until the evening or my favorite show is on TV, and I just start the process and walk away from it for a while. :)

Generally speaking, here is what I've been doing to make up a gallery list for the F505V. I'm generally making sure that the album is exclusive to the F505V and not any other camera. I'm trying to make sure that there are a minimum of four images in that album (your album with the two self-portraits was very interesting, so I included it). Otherwise, I'd have 200 links each with only a couple of shots, one of them being from an Olympus or other camera.

I'm also usually trying to include albums that have full-resolution images. If they've been resized or retouched, I try to make note of that where I can remember to do so.

Let me know if you provide a separation between your own F505 and your F505V shots. I'll then make a link to it in the list.

Thanks for your additions!

No problemo.

Just a personal list that I've collected as a sort of set of standards by which I can judge how my own images are coming out in different situations. I'll also be adding Phil's own gallery to this list as they are generally excellent examples of focus, color and composition. A great model to follow, IMO.

Right! I remember you're not a huge fan of my watermarks ;^)

Yes, I've been meaning to do just as you suggest. It's just that time thing again!
Thanks for your additions!
You're welcome, of course. Thanks for posting the gallery list!

Also, Phil seems to be trying to encourage us to use the samples and galleries forum for images (mostly asked to the people in the Nikon forum). As a result of this the samples and galleries forum is seeing a lot more activity. I have not had good results with people giving me constructive criticism on that forum, but it looks like that may be changing. It would be nice to post a link to your gallery list on that forum also (I would do it, but I don't like to be presumptious with other peoples posts).

Phil's thread can be found at:

Again, Phil is only encouraging this. I admire the hands-off approach he takes and try to respond to his requests ;^) Thanks again for posting the list!

Hey there, Brent -
Right! I remember you're not a huge fan of my watermarks ;^)
Yeah, that would be me. :)

But seriously, if you watermark them, that's fine. I just want to make sure that I make a note of it. You know how it is. There are always those who say "but that's not the way it is straight out of the camera", and that sort of thing. So in the gallery list, I note it if I see it. Not really a problem for me as I'm really confident of the camera's ability to produce a very high quality image on its own merit.

Got to admit, I'm a supporter of Phil when it comes to posting large quantities of 1MB+ images. I hate having to scroll a message window to read the text while at the same time waiting to have the image download. Just a personal peeve, but if the image is interesting enough to me, I'll wait for it especially if it is there to demonstrate a point or two about the camera.

I like to embed an image here or there, but I try not to allow it to go above 100K where I can.

I'm off to read that message you provided a link for. Thanks! Glad the list can be of help.
