I checked the address from dpreview thread and it should be right there. Also I can see the image from the post I made. I cannot understand why it should not work. The image is on my own homepages and it should not have any limits nor it should be a service that does not work sometimes.

Right address is:

In an other thread there was some questions on the lighting allowed for this challenge...
I've tried to answer them as follows:
Greetings All:

Sorry it has taken so long for me to read this... I've been out all day shooting a Taekwondo > competition... that that has been a test for both my 5700 and me.

Anyway... on the lighting issue... The intent of my lighting rule was to ensure that people > did not use a flash or studio type lighting systems. In my mind, that does not rule out the > use of ambient type light but it would rule it out if it was manipulated to the point of being > a studio type set-up.
I'm not sure that will be a definitive enough answer, but I'll start with that.

I took the h out just so I could post the link. Still

Could you please e-mail me the pic.

Thanks

As long as it's not "arranged" ligth, I asume it's ok? Cuz right now we don't have much daylight and it's getting worse close to the arctic circle. The picture I have in mind (gonna try to take it today) will have no daylight but spotlights that are used normally in this room. I.e. nothing I've set up or arranged.

I hope that will be within the lighting rules you've set up.

Petra brings up an interesting question? If you are in the artic circle, which I am not but who knows who could be there? =)

I would think they would have more of a challenge as they would have to do long exposure inorder to meet the rules of natural light. I think it is great that Doug went to the trouble of thinking about this challenge and the rules. I can only speak for myself but it would seem "natural light" does not mean "plugged in, power light" It is a challenge after all right? ;-) I am sure those in a low light enviroment will be submitting some of the best pictures.
I may even have to try it myself.

I think Doug was more referring to not using Studio
lighting or a light source that was specifically staged
for the purpose of the picture. I would say that if a
incandescent light or candles for that matter are in
a natural enviroment and the lighting is not staged
for the purpose of the picture that should be allowable.

Doug, please correct me if my interpretation is off-base.

Greetings All:

I’ll try again to put my thought into word.... (I know I'm not very good at this)

Anyway, I'm only interested in stopping people from using a flash or studio type set-up.

What does this mean in real terms? Well the "Flash thing should be pretty straight forward... it is the Studio set-up that has the grey area.

I'm not saying you cannot use ambient light... I'm simply saying you cannot take (6) table lamps and position them around your subject (or something like that). To me this is a (poor mans) studio set-up. The reason I feel this way is that is what I need to do when I try to take a portrait, as I don't own any studio lights.

But does this rule stop someone from shooting a subject that might be sitting in a chair next to a table lamp? (No)

Does it stop someone from taking a shot of someone standing under a streetlight? (No)

Does it stop you from shooting a subject who might be positioned next to a window and still have a lamp going in the room... (No)

And my all time favorite example... Does it stop you from taking a shot of a welder working (i.e. the light source is the sparks from the weld)...(no)

Are the above examples using ambient light? (Yes) but are they a studio type set-up (No)
I hope this will help make my thoughts a little clearer…

Nobody Steel my welder idea... That one came to me as I wrote the above post... but is might be one hell of a shot.... me and my big mouth (sigh)
Have fun... and get out there and get THAT shot....

I think who ever wins this challenge will have to put lot's of different skills into the shot and that's what it's all about.

Nice pic Sid~

What metering did you use. I try a similar shot with spot metering on the mask of the welder, turned out pretty cool but a bit over exposed due to the various sparks etc......
Not my entery though :-) Went low tech street shot for that ;-)

Picture was taken too early for the challenge but I thought it would be fun to show

Dough,

I live in an area where there's almost impossible to not have some type of lamps going on (I do live very close to the arctic circle and have clear daylight for just a few hours a day). With lamps I mean light bulbs, florecent light, candles, etc, etc...... unless I want to take pictures in a pit dark room.

This is my problem: I have taken a few pictures in a room where there was florecent light available in the ceiling, that I didn't like so I turned them off. But there was also 2 table lamps set up (I didn't set them up). I used those two table lamps and used them as only light source.

Although..... I did angle one of the lamps to not cast too much shadows where I didn't want them. Did I then break the rules?

Actually I was joking around with Doug, apparently
