Inpaint 3.0 free, but you only have a day to get it for that price.

Give-a-way of the Day is giving away Inpaint 3.0. I had 2.4 from last year. Just did a quite test with 3.0 and am happy with it. Just wanted to share. Can't beat free, but you have just under 24 hours to get it at that price. :)

I was wondering how well it works compared to Content-Aware?

future generations will see my photos
and think that I was nuts.

Nice program. Only caveat is that you need to be connected to the internet to activate it. Without activation, you cannot save modified images.

I installed it yesterday .when I try to save an image, it states I need to buy it. Is there a way to activate it without buying it?

Best,

Don't think so at this point. When the zip file was downloaded, it expanded into three files, a readme.txt, the InPaint install exe, and the activate.exe file. The instructions said to install the program first, then run the activate.exe file. From all I could tell, the activate.exe file entered a registration code automatically and opened up a browser to a web site, (that you could then close without effect). Without hacking, I don't think you can activate for free anymore.

When I did as you stated, the online screen said that the softwre had been activated, so I went to the desktop and opened Inpaint and can now use it without any problems.

But you can, quite easally though.

All he needs is the free code from us yesterday and fill it in manually and activate.

The auto-activation just writes a line into the register of windows with a registration code.

For those not familiar with Inpaint, after you make your selection, you can actually drag the square bracket around and also change the size of the bracket so you can fill the selection using components from another part of the image. I still like the fine tune selection abilities of 2.4 and, after reading lemonadesoda entry, I re-installed 2.4 in another location and it still worked. 3.0 is definitely faster and much easier to use for quick jobs (99% of the time), but when the extra finesse is needed, I'll continue to use 2.4. :)

If you have Vista or Win7 and didn't right click and run as Administrator and the same for the activation executable, I believe this is what happens. Also, unfortunatly, you won't be able to activate it. They have traditionally offered Inpaint around twice a year for the past two years anyway. :)
