It depends on one's needs. On Friday I bought a G12, because sometimes I don't like to carry tons of equipment...., but now that I've started using DSLRs I think a bridge camera would like be a
secondary one if I ever use one again![]()
The G12 comes very close to my good old 20D regarding IQ. I was also tempted to get the S95, but when holding it in my hands, I found it feeling too small ... though the better pocketability was really tempting. A further thought was, that in case I want something more powerful without carrying something heavy, the G12 is the better alternative, because I can use filters and external flash ... all fits in a small bag.
The SX30 was also a thought, but it's very big ... no chance in a jacket pocket or small belt bag ;-)
Though the zoom is tempting, I'm not that satisfied with it's WA and high ISO IQ (ISO400 lacks a lot of detail already) and I don't need such zoom very often ... and if I need it, my sweetheart has it
Who said camera choice is easy ... LOL
