Weekly Landscape Thread: Jan 2nd - Jan 8th

No, no HDR... that's just how it was. The trees seem lit up from my back because they are, from the reflection of the sun on a wall of snow behind me. The shade is also bright simply because the snow reflects the high amount of still available light. So, the scene actually has a low DR, but great contrast... which is what HDR tries to fake on scenes that don't have it for a start ;)

It gets dark - and colder - pretty early, now. A couple of us stayed out until it was so dark we couldn't see each other within about 20 feet - but those long exposures really bring a lot to an image.

an early shot, still lots of light in the sky:

the next two are long exposures, with the darker one intended that way for the sake of the colors (I'll admit I was just too lazy to selectively WB in PP!); the first is an HDR (you can see a bit of artifact in it):

(thanks for taking a look!)
