So like I had grand ideas of attempting to de-throne Barn Boy Bob with a "top secret" weapon I'd found some time ago. An old beat up barn in the shadow of modern satellite dishes had possibilities. Here's a quick snap I took back in May:

"One of these days" I was going to head over and take a bunch of shots. Yesterday with the sun shining and the fall leaves starting to fade, I decided to take the long way to work and actually try to get a few shots in. I was "horrified" at what I found:

This on the heels of another lost opportunity to shoot a classic old style Motel that I passed every day on the way to work. Complete with a neon sign that said something like "Hyway Motel". It's been razed and cleared, and they're now laying the foundation for a public storage facility. :-(

The moral? I guess it's "Shoot now, or forever hold your peace."

Ain't it the truth. Actually, what I found most interesting about that "former" barn was how long it stood there with so much sprawl around it. It's literally only 5 minutes from Dulles Airport, right of the "main drag" of route 28 where they've been building office complexes, apartments, etc. for years.
Inigo,
Too bad about the barn and motel. :( That's a great point about
"Shoot now, or forever hold your peace." Timing is everything.
It's just a good thing that our minds can hold an image for us even
if we can't get it with the camera.
****:)
