had some fun re composition after some dawn photographs on boxing day [-10c & 6.30 am ]

whilst getting to grips with the new acquisition of the Lee filter kit on the 14-24 lens

BTW the back shrouds are vital btw : surpising how much light bleeds from behind

but the LEE filter kit really does the job well .. great combination now .. really what this lens has been missing { for me anyways ! }

so back to single composition shots and not merged bracketed in post process in PS
Price is steep but worth it ...

GND I presume?

How is for vignetting at 14mm?

Is it very bulky? Does it take up a lot of room in your camera bag?

How quick is it to set up and disassemble? Can you just leave it assembled in your bag?

Nice shots, and thanks in advance for replies to any of my questions.

Very nice pics indeed. I am also interested in lee filters for my copy of this lens. Will you please enlighten me what are the square shadows in all 15/23 pics?
Lee are square filters right?
thanks,

seems to be fine : no apparent increase in vignetting that i have noticed

yes the two bags need quite a bit of room in the bag take up one complete side pocket in my case

see pics its quite big when set up but you leave the filter ring on

very easy you just add the filter holder as needed
you leave the filter holder ring on

you then use the lee supplied neoprene lens cover
as the original lens cap is then not usable
Nice shots, and thanks in advance for replies to any of my questions.

Yeah the flare is lightly less pronounced .. I think ..
but still there .. just have to grin n bear it
wonder if the 16-35 is any better .. did you swap to that ?

BTW your Site led me to Bodie in 2009
and I still need to post more of the shots I took that day in 2009
but i need to calm down on some of the post process activity !!!

thanks for the comments .. appreciated

Very nice, Robin. Now try it with the sun less than 90 degrees and curse the flare. I loved my 14-24 . . . and then sold it. Flare became too much of a limiting factor. I hate to be limited. All that aside, you did a great job. Take a bow.

"boxing day [-10c & 6.30 am ]" !! I think you need your brain examining but also deserve congratulations for dedication and a fine set of images. I too have the 14-24. I have considered these filters (esp the Big Stopper) but if they require me to shoot in these conditions I think I shall pass! Surely it is quicker to go snap, snap, snap and sort the DR out later in the warmth of your study?!

Seriously though, well done!

Dee ...

Yeah maybe you're right re brain fade .. ...

but we haven't had much of dawn sun of late so had to make the best of it .. her indoors point blank refused to assist and ... she said much the same thing ... like you must be b - - - dy joking..

apparently you can't get a big stopper or a polarizer for this holder so there some limitations to this kit ..

best
