You dont need a D3x :)

Nice image, Ray. But it seems overly saturated, too vivid. Is this from in-camera Vivid setting, or PP?

Reilly -- Very nice! I love the balance of outdoor to indoor subjects. Terrific exposure.

Will the final image have the rounded "barrel" lines straightened?

Reimer -- Sorry to change the subject, but your gallery is breathtaking!

What camera and lenses did you use on your Grand Canyon shots? Any special PP? I'm very impressed with your tonal range in the Hoover Dam shots looking down on the concrete and cliff -- CPL, but . . . what else?!

I hope you are getting a lot of sale on your travel photos -- awesome.

Thanks for such kind words Gunzorro.

I had to look that up myself. That was back in 2004 with a D70 and 17-55. I always take care to control shadows and highlights, mostly playing with RAW files, and back then contrast masks for sky before the NX u-point auto-masks. That's probably why I never got interested in HDR. One or at most two shots will cover me.

But with that said, I wouldn't mind the extra MP for single shots for my large prints.

But I can hold my own with a D300 or D7000.

Interesting choice.

Now, let's see if I still remember how to post images. First your choice, then a stitch:

Oh, and now that I jumped in here, Roman, could you please clarify your post. You've got me guessing. Thanks

OK, Roman, I get it.. duh: you're responding to the original title. Got it.

Yeah who needs that overpriced D3X anyway. Hey, next year we may all be shooting something in the 18-20 Mp range (the sweet spot for me).
