Well I am going to buy it when it show's up. I just wish they would put out more info. on it. I jumped ship this month and bought a Pentax K5 just to take the edge of untill the FUJI show up. People are leaving you FUJI, I guess you don't care if they go to another camera line.

FUJI are you listening, people are going else were, while we have to wait on you!!!

--May you always have work for your hands to do.
May your pockets hold always a coin or two.
May the sun shine bright on your windowpane.
May the rainbow be certain to follow each rain.
May the hand of a friend always be near you.
And may nature fill your heart with gladness
to cheer you.

They have had two major announcements in the past few weeks about the X100. What more do you want???

Fuji announced the X100 at Photokina saying it would be released March/April. Since then, they've been continuing to do interviews and release new details, especially the last two weeks. To date, they have not announced this camera will be delayed.

I guess the OP's post would make sense if it were now May. It's not.

Actually, the X100 web site is very informative. I think they've been doing a fantastic job getting the info out there. Each new bit comes out, they get another bite at the apple, and it's all really rather exciting.

Yes, the X100 site is very well done. Quite informative when you consider it is Fujifilm we are talking about here; just about the worst corporate communicator one can imagine.

A few people think Fuji is taking too long to get to market with the their new camera. Some people thought seven days was too long for God to create all things. And he didn't even have a web site.

A dSLR and the X100 are two entirely different beasts. You did not leave Fuji for Pentax, you simply grabbed a camera while waiting. And your assertion that you grabbed an APS-C dSLR while waiting for a compact makes no sense at all. They don't fill the same functional niche ... maybe a used Leica ...

Seven months is a long time to wait. The initial rush of blood to the head by early adopters and tire kickers has passed, as well as many cold showers. Plenty of time for early adopter remorse to kick in.

New cameras like the K5 have hit the ground running, scoring runs, and are on the shelf now.
And the X100 is still a long way off.

The Photokina show only comes around only once every 2 years and the next biggest imaging show, the PMA won't be until September 2011 so Fuji probably took a marketing decision to announce at Photokina to attract attention to the company and the camera especially in the absence of any other new products.

Its been a fantastic PR success for Fuji and the retro style camera caught the imagination of the world, a new experience for Fuji. Chances are even they were taken by surprise at the scale of the positive media reaction and as a result have created the website to keep momentum going until the camera is ready.

I think they have done very well, remember the imaging companies are always jockeying with each other for media and market attention and Fuji diverted attention from the imaging giants like Nikon and Canon, the monster electronics companies like Samsung and Panasonic and the prestige companies like Leica.

This may be turning into a make or break product for Fuji as expectations have been raised so high. Its probably going to be very good, and possibly a truly collectable digital camera that stands the test of time.

dp Review gave the Pentex k5 their highest rating, better then Canon or the new Nikon D7000. I think you can forget about Fuji, they are just not in the same league.

The X100 could resserect them out of the mire of mediacray, we'll just have to wait and see.

I measured the deminsions of the X100 with my Leica R6.2. They are almost exactly the same size without Leica's lens. This means that the new Pentax K5, Sony A33/55 and the Nikon D7000 DSLR's without their lenses will be smaller the the X100.

And with the lenses are much larger :D

Well, you should be very happy with your smaller cameras that have no lenses.

The X100 is going to be like carrying a brick in your pocket. Besides, do people really carry cameras around unprotected in their pockets along with coins, car keys, lint, dust, 10 rounds of ammunition and a swiss army knife? ppplease!
No, but I generally carry one in my inside coat pocket all by itself. I think the X100 will fit nicely there.

I am over six feet with long pants. If I empty my pants pocket and attach a filter and/or place it in a pouch inside the pocket, it will make an excellent pocket cam :D. Of course cargo pants pocket or coat pocket work well too.
