This is not my best photo, but it is my favorite.
I have numerous cousins living throughout the US. As is the case in many families, other than events such as weddings and funerals, we rarely get to see each other. A couple of years ago, a cousin of mine, who lived in Florida, thought that it would be a good idea to gather a bunch of us for a joint vacation, so that we would actually have the time to enjoy each others' company. She rented two large, side-by-side houses, on the beach at Garden City Beach, South Carolina, for the first week in July. More than 20 of us got together for a great vacation. My daughters developed close, continuing relationships with relatives that they had previously barely known.
We had hoped to make this a yearly event; however, six months later, my cousin from Florida died. Unfortunately, with her death, plans for a yearly get-together also came to an end. She was a wonderful person who was always putting the needs of others ahead of caring for her own health. This probably contributed to her life ending earlier than it may otherwise have.
I took this shot on a quiet morning on the beach, during that get-together, waiting to watch the sunrise. It have since had this shot as the wallpaper on my computer, as it is a daily reminder of a wonderful person who is no longer with us.
