I pre-ordered from Amazon on 10/12, with ship date estimated at
11/5. Hasn't shipped and they don't respond to my e-mails. Anyone
here gotten a G3 from Amazon yet? This is very irritating!

Who sells it for less than $759 including shipping?

hanzzon,
There is a place online in which the Canon G3 with full US warranty
is being sold for $709.00 The price is pretty good, but the
shipping is a bit much. Hope this helps you with your quest for
the G3.
Good Luck,
Terry

You have a good point there. I was just looking at the overnight
shipping and the 69.95 gave me a bit of a scare. I would buy the
camera from this site, but I already have a pre-order through
HarmonyComputers.com they are selling the G3 w/ 1GB IBM MicroDrive
for $959. So I am just going to try and wait paticently (sp?) for
that.
Have a good one,
Terry

I was able to talk to my local camera store into selling me a G3
for $799 tax included. I don't mind paying $40 more to have the
camera in hand now instead of waiting. I suspect that by the time
you get your camera from amazon, $759 will not be that good a deal.
I mean at that time, other vendors will be offering better deal.

That sounds a little scary. The Canon wide angle is 0.7x and the Canon telephoto is 1.7x so what they sold you does not appear to be Canon. What brand, do you know? Non-Canon accessory lenses can have problems. Also the Canon lenses sell for $160 each so the two would be $320. I don't know anything about the Mack warranty. Also, as you know, the G3 has a new proprietary quarter-turn bayonet mount for add-on lenses. So to attach these lenses you bought, you will need a bayonet-to-threaded-end adapter. As far as I know, the only adapter available right now is the Canon adapter which adapts to 58mm. So your lenses would need to be 58mm. Sorry to burden you with possibly useless information, but I'm just concerned.I am a bit of a sucker so I ended up getting the 0.5
wideangle, 2x telephoto, and a 3 year MACK extended warranty for
$299. Don't know if it was the smartest thing to do or not.
Thanks! Don't have those stores here in the Dallas area. We have Ritz Camera and Wolf Camera, now joined together.Penn Camera. They have stores in DC, Maryland and Virgina suburbs.
I suspect that Canon ships cameras to these real camera stores
first, then to the big chain stores like BestBuy and Circuit City,
then to the mail order houses. By that time you can pick one up
easily with 10% discount from various sources(dell, goodguys,
buydig, to name a few). There is no point of waiting for amazon to
save $40.
You may want to check on bilibi in other forums. The complaint is that they ask you to call regarding your order and try to force you to buy their accessories (i.e. JUNK) in order to get that great price. If you resist, the G3 suddenly becomes "out of stock". When you add the junk and the shippng charges, their deal ain't so greatI guess it would help if I included the URL
