Houston Skyline

Hi John

This must be the most serene building picture I ever seen, great, what a special mood, what strange and lovely colors and the glowing green makes it even more appealing, lovely picture, well done.

With very kind regards,

Dirk

Hi John,

Looks like I was there a little earlier than you or we would have run into each other. Yes it was a pretty day in H-town today.

see ya around,

Thanks for the kind words Dirk. This is probably the most photographed view of the Houston skyline, but you've got to love it.

Hi TBert, I stopped on my way home at about 5:15 pm, it does look like you were there earlier in the day. I noticed those police cars on Allen Parkway in your picture. When I leave downtown on Allen Parkway everyday I have to be alert for those guys, they've been making plenty of money for the city the past few weeks.

Where exactly is this shot taken from?? Im still sorta new to Houston and not sure where to go for photo ops. Want to get out and play with my new D60.

Can you suggest any other spots to go to for shots?? I have yet to go to any of the parks...not sure if they're worth it either.

I think it was taken from Memorial Park. If you look at a Houston map, it is basically at the intersection of IH45 and Allen Parkway. (just west of that intersection). Houston has several good areas to photograph. I guess it depends on what you want though. A few ideas are The Waterwall at Transco (now Williams) Tower and also Herman Park (in the medical center). Those places have various architectural, fountain, and artistic subjects.

John,

That is a great shot...!!! I have always loved the colors that the afternoons and sunset casts on downtown Houston. Here is one I shot May of 2001 from almost the same spot.

This is a photo of my Brother-in-law and his bride. As a mater of fact, my Mother/Father-in-law live less than a mile from the spot you took that shot from.

Though I grew up in NW Houston, I now live in Columbia, SC... so it was really nice to see Houston again. Please feel free to share more scenes fron around town.

Just wanted to say y'all again -- its frowned upon out here. I grew up in the Memorial area (Stratford High School, '79) and its nice to see Hugetown represented well here.

I think the best place to shoot pictures in the Humidton area is downtown Galveston. I took all the following shots in 45 mintes with my Canon S100. With a little more time you could pull together a great gallery as there's a lot more I didn't capture.

Hi Kevin,

This picture is taken from Eleanor Tinsley Park just west of downtown off Allen Parkway (along Buffalo Bayou). Here is a web link to the park.

Hi Charles, you got some nice shots in a short amount of time in Galveston. I actually went to Westchester high school (1974). So we could have almost been neighboors.
