[PIC] My car -- let's see yours!

Don't know a thing about Corvettes , but here's my personal experience
2001.....2 weeks travelling about the US East coast in a Mustang Cobra SVT(V8)
http://www.pbase.com/image/6929783

2002 .....2weeks travelling around central Europe in a BMW 330i { with sports Pack}, 1500 miles through winding nountain roads :-)

while the mustang had the greater horsepower and was faster off the standing start, the ride ,handling and sheer comfort of the Beamer left it far behind. To me a car is over all driving pleasure and this was where the BMW won hands down. Also the Beamer left a lot more change in your pocket after a visit to the Petrol Station.
All the best
Aaron
PS check your US delivery Beamers....the limiter cut in at 140mph :-(
BMW M5 (right off BMW USA's site)

0-60 in 4.8
other sites quote the 1/4 mile to be around 13.2

Various sites online quote the Vette's time to be 4.6-4.9 with a
1/4 mile right around 13.3

either way and in either case, your looking at pure driver skill to
call the winning car...

Now... frankly, the M5 is a 4 door, 5 seater, the Vette is a 2
door, 2 seater...

I will admit, The M5 won't necessarely beat the Vette, but it'l
stay door to door - with a car thats a purpose built american
sportscar (that ways 900 lbs less).

Now, I'll also admit, The M5 is almost twice the price:-P but eh,
what can you do:-D

But please, dont' call my a liar until you double check your own
numbers.

-Scot
The BMW / USA web site indicates that the M5 with a manual 6-speed
transmission and 394 HP can achieve 155 MPH, 0-60 MPH in 6.4
seconds, and 13/21 MPG city/highway fuel consumption. The
respective Chevrolet web site rates the standard 350 HP Corvette
6-speed as capable of 175 MPH, 0-60 MPH in 4.6 seconds, and 19/28
MPG city/highway. No doubt both manufacturers use professional
drivers and obtain results that few of us could ever realize but
the fact remains that the Corvette has superior performance.

I have nothing against the Vette (Especially the Z06, they tear up events)...

My point is that a 4klbs sedan can keep up with a stock Vette (While seating 5 people.. Thats BMW's whole deal - comfortable, practical Sedans that can really move.

now, you'll be paying twice as much for the sedan, so there is always a trade off...

Hell, I'd take either in a heartbeat:-D

And I have to agree with the above.. (o:

2002 Porsche Carrera 4S Twin Turbo

The tail light was taken with a c2100 this one C2020 both with flash.

I tried using available light with UZi, but my hands were just too shaky even with IS.

I've had someone tell me that BMW wagons are a sacrilege.
A friend of mine from an online chat forum who I think is a bit
loopy in the head. ;)
I highly reccommend them (I've driven a 325Xi at an autocross
before actually... very solid car.. rolls a bit much for my taste
(the added weight will do that), but still turned in solid numbers.
You can fix that by replacing the suspension. My Golf has bad body
roll problems that can be fixed by installing the H&R Cup Kit
suspension, for example, or a similar aftermarket kit. Which I hope
to do sometime next year.
Oh yeah, there is So much you can do to Bimmers, Especially the 3 series (Since they have such a racing presence)... The 325Xi I drove was stock though.

And Golfs.... Well, lets just say the new golf has more than a reputation for rockin and rollin in the turns - you can put some fantastic suspensions on those things though... My friend has a lowered and Chipped 2000 GTI with the H&R suspension (I believe).. its pure pleasure to drive.

Golfs are good cars though.. They give a tremendous amount of Comfort and speed for the money:)

Thanks:-D

745i, as in a 2002? (I didn't think they made a 4.5 liter motor until the new one)... if so how do you like it? I-drive agree with you?

I've heard the I-drive is much less radical than people seem to think... and not at all hard to get used too.

Actually, what surprises me the most... I"ve heard of multiple guys (usually 5er owners) going in and test-driving the new 7, and then coming out and saying that their 5 felt like a boat after the test drive... I've heard the new 7s are unbelievably nimble for their size...

never driven one though, so I don't know...

Still trying to get used to the styling myself:-P (although its growing on me slowly) I still think the e36/e39 was the high-point in BMW styling:-D

-Scott
I like the 745i, myself, but I'd take yours, lol! It looks like
you take good car of her! LIke her in black, too.

I know a guy who runs a 1st gen Talon 4wd... he's documented 6000 total spent on the car... He autocrosses actually, put a majority of his work into his suspension, but did the basic turbo work...

he runs low 14s-high 13s - while at the same time pulling over a 1 G on the skidpad and turning in some amazing course numbers...

now if only his costs would stay at 6k:-P... unfortunately he's putting more and more away on maintnence... Fast, yes... a value, yes... reliable... umm...

hehe

When I get out of college in a year, there are 5 cars on my "look list"

BMW 330Ci - I love the bimmers:-D not sure if its worth the price premium over the competition:(... I wanna see BMW's upcoming responses:-D

Infinity G35 coupe - I heard they actualy out-handle the 350Z, and they have an extra seat... don't like the styling as much though...
Nissan 350Z - GEORGEOUS! Fast... 2 seater:(
Mitsu Lancer EVO VIII - FUGLY, but I hear they are fast as hell
Subaru WRX sTI - If subaru will ever bother to release the specs.

What a great time to be a sports-sedan fanatic!:-D

Sorry to disappoint ya Scott, but its not the GSX........I couldn't
swing the GSX dollar figures 8 eight years ago. I agree with ya
whole heartedly about the bang for the buck statement! After only
a few hundred dollars of modifications they can easily run in the
very low 13's - high 12's. Right now I have my eyes on either the
Nissan 350z or the Infiniti G35 Coupe...I can't decide which way to
go though. Either way, I'm still not giving up my Eclipse :O)

Couldn't resist any longer! Just put away for the winter :-(
A friend of mine who's a Firebird nut unfortunately had his last one reposessed in the last couple months. He's not happy about it. He got behind on one payment and had just sent a payment on the car when they took it. Now they're trying to extract more money from him and he's refusing -- they sold the car at auction and he's pretty steamed.

I'm still not sure why he sold the one he had before that...

I'm glad you like it.

You know your cars.:-) I know close to nothing about cars except maybe brands. LOL.

Its a 996 Carrera 4S Twin Turbo, but couldn't find any info on Porsche web site on the 996.

dboogie, I had entertained the idea of the G35C early on, but the dealer couldn't get one in for me to test drive and look over. Finally, after a long three week wait and no G35 coupe, I went next door to the Nissan dealer and ck'd out the Z car. Whoa! This was a pretty serious effort on the part of Nissan to bring back some glory to the Z car marque. In comparison, I just couldn't enjoy the tame design of the front and back of the G35 in comparison to rough and ready aspect of the Z. I finally decided that if I was going for a sports car, I would go for a true two seater as the Z is rather than the more mundane G35. I see how bystanders react to the Z and yesterday while having LoJack installed in my Z, I watched them react to the G35's being demo'd next door. No comparison! The "WOW" factor is out of sight w/the Z. The G35 rarely even elicited a second look when it went by. Also, the Z has 5 models/levels to choose from and I don't think the G35 offers this level of choice. It seems to be such a visceral thing with the Z car. People honk their horns, People wave or give the thumbs up. It seems to grab people across the board from the 70 year old little old lady to the 16 yr. old kid tailing the Z for miles and pulling up to me in the shopping center to ask me if it was the new "300ZX". If you get a chance, try both, but I think the Z is going to be a classic as a new release of a well known marque even as the 240 was/is a classic. The G35 on the other hand is totally new for Infiniti and has no history behind it, but could stand on its own in time too. I am partial to the paint on mine (LeMans Sunset) but you should see the Brickyard Red color too, it is stunning. The colors are named after racetracks around the world and they are beautiful.

Okay, sorry for rambling like this about cars on a photo forum, forgive me folks. To make this legitimate, I shot my GT and my Z with the EZi! Regards, Jim N'AZ
