Has anyone ordered from Unique Photo out of New Jersey? Are they an honest outfit?

I ordered a GH2 with lens (14-140mm) yesterday with next day air shipping. My credit card was charged immediately but my order is still "pending."

On the item description at their website, it states "your credit card will not be charged until the order ships" for pre-orders.

Will give them a call today to see what's up.

Methinks that you are too impatient. When they say that your credit card will only be charged when the item is shipped that means that it will be charged when the item leaves their stores, not when you receive it. If you add to that the fact that we are right in the Christmas season, then the shipping may take some more day.

That said, I don't know Unique Photo and if the price was too low to be right and the dealer unknown, then you took your responsibility.

You are right. I am impatient. It's a character flaw me thinks.

I did paid "full price" for the kit.

Will see what they say tomorrow. Hope to get it before Xmas although I am not Christian.

Absolutely legit - Unique Photo is a large brick and mortar camera store in Northern New Jersey which runs a lot of educational programs including presenters from major camera corporations

Panasonic Direct charged my card for the GH2 last Saturday. Tracking shows the GH2 shipped on Monday. My Panasonic email said the same thing, wouldn't be charged until shipped.

Yea, I wouldn't worry about it.

The Unique Photo BBB record shows the business started in 1947.
 
First rate customer service (Sarah) and prompt delivery. You will receive an email when your order ships. I live about 50 miles from them and received my GH2 the next day via standard UPS ground. I've ordered a couple more things since then (flash and 45-200). One order arrived the next day and the other took two days. Unique will be the first choice for future purchases (Amazon, Adorama, and B&H charge me NY state tax).
 
I placed an order with them 11AM Friday 12/17/2010. Web site stated my credit card would be charged immediately on in stock orders...and it was. I received UPS tracking number at 4:30 pm. Tracking info follows. Excellent service so far! Thanks to whomever posted that Unique had them in stock!

I used to live 1 mile away and would shop there occasionally (rather save tax from Amazon/BH Photo). Huge store, totally legit, terrible return policy bc they think people are using equipment as rentals so they're borderline accusatory when you try to return something.
