Hi All

I know this is not Fuji specific, but has anyone got the Energizer 5 hour batery charger? If so, can you answer my query. Got this yesterday so haven't actually tested it yet but in the instructions it states that AA 1200Mah batteries will charge in 5 hours then the unit will switch off and go into trickle mode (whatever that is). My question is, I have got 1850Mah batteries to charge. Does it charge them fully or the cut off after 5 hours stop it short? It seems to suggest the unit will automatically shut off regardless of charge state. What is trickle mode?

Thanks

Richard

Is your Accucharger the same as the one I've got - fairly small and compact, takes 4 x AAs - IN PAIRS - and ALSO takes PP3 batts (two - separately) AND has a switch for NiCad or NiMH with two little LEDs to show the pairs of batts loaded and being charged. Don't know what charge time is supposed to be but I use it for 2000mA ANSMAN AAs and it does them in around two hours then the lights go out. Trickle charge means it just continues putting in a modest few milliamps current to keep the batts up so you can leave them in the charger until needed, quite safely. Found it great, no bother at all - £3.50 from a local Computer Fair, brand new. Bargain of the day ! Label on the front in sort of yellow/green combo and three-pin plugs straight into mains socket. VERY compact for all it does

hi Richard!

i think it will stop after 5 hours only with the 1200 mAh batteries. when you load 1850 or even 2000 mAh batteries, it will take longer (probably 7-8 hours).

the charger "knows", when the batteries full, and after that comes the trickle mode. this means, until the full charge the charger loads the batteries with its full power, after that it only hold them at full charged level, so no overloading possible.

maybe i'm wrong, but i don't saw any charger, that was switch off after a determined or specified time.

Hi Eric,
how ya doin?...

It sounded like mine but I checked the label and mine is Uniross(yuk - cheapskate) - I rember reading the instructions which said it was just timed...... if you pull it out and put it in again it will go for another set interval...
probrably not the same as yours but they are not all smart.....

If it's a timed charger as you described, it will NOT charge your 1850 mAh batteries fully. I would get a better charger that has peak detection otherwise you are underutilizing your 1850s. It's ok to do that but you did pay a little extra to have higher capacity, right? :)
