Hello SONY - where are our firmware updates?

The A33/A55 are not intended as studio cameras. The A900/A850 are.

Doesn't mean you can't use them in the studio, but it's not their prime use.

Sony released NEX cameras on May 2010 and in July 2010, they released the first firmware update. A55 was released on August 2010!
How old? its usually under 30's that have the I bought it today and need it updated tomorrow syndrome. Older guys tend to understand that the world does not work

well that way

Of course, I did not buy A55 primarily for studio use but I want it work wherever I need it to like my A100 and A700...

Even the most cursory pre-reading would have showed you it is not the camera for studio work. If you bought it for that reason, the fault is yours, not Sony's.
There is a flash delay BUG with the Alpha 33/55 (and apparently the 560 and 580). Hopefully Sony will fix this soon (and hopefully it can be fixed in firmware).
I have read the posts on this. I have no flash delay bug on my A55.
As for gaining up the EVF for studio flash, that also deserves a FW update.

Sony makes good stuff, but sometimes they flub up.

congrats that would make you the only one.
Well, aren't I the lucky one!

Set camera on tripod, raise flash, sit 20 young kids in front of it, set smile function on, walk away and start to make the kids laugh, watch what happens.

I repeat, I have no flash delay bug on my A55.

Remember, it's human nature for people who have (or think they have) a problem to be verbose about it. Those who are happy generally keep quiet (and in this case, just take photos.)

Cheers

While my list of suggestions for the firmware update is slowly growing, I would not want for Sony to rush and respond to first screamers (not that I call you that name!), as clearly there is nothing which has to be FIXED in the camera. Just MODIFY, CHANGE , ADD/EXPAND some functionality, but only after accumulating enough feedback from larger pool of users. As the camera is still generally not available (at least here in US), I don’t think enough folks had a chance to 1). get used to new cam, 2). got to know what to expect and then 3). form the opinion.
why so freaking slow? There are a number of firmware updates for other brands on the DP homepage this past few weeks. I know you released an update for A850 and A900 but it was 1-2 years late! We really need an update for A33/A55 cameras.

One thing about Sony is that they make so many different things. Brands like Fuji, Nikon, Canon mostly concentrate on Cameras and imaging while Sony makes music CDs, produces movies, movie DVDs, makes blue-ray discs and players, TVs, music playing devices, CD players, video cameras (professional and consumer), headphones, laptops, and the list probably goes on and on.

That's a silly argument. GE makes many things (from municipal water treatment to jet engines). Sony is a also a multi-faceted company with individual divisions under a corporate umbrella. It's not as if you have the same 100 guys sitting around a room saying "this week we make toasters".

You got to be bloody kidding me. Nikon already released two firmwares for their D7000 that came out later than the SLT cameras.

Maybe they will listen to us if we submit out requests here
https://forum.sel.sony.com/viewtopic.php?f=68&t=5422

However, I have a feeling they will NOT offer a firmware at all now that the A55 won Camera of the Year! or maybe Sony thinks it is a PERFECT camera, no need for firmwares or D7000 is that bad that Nikon had to release two firmwares so soon!

Now, don't us me what is wrong with my A55! Just search the forums, there are a lot of requests for firmwares or suggestions.

If someone is really in bad need for a firmware, he can always buy a Nikon D7000 and upload the new firmware.
