Will m43 ever be as versatile as the OM?

I came across this when looking for a information about the Olympus Macro system:

TEN macro lenses. Bellows, extension tubes, flashes, focusing screens and viewfinders (arguably not as important in digital system)

We now have 3 macro lenses, one designed for m43, and it is not even from Olympus. m43 should really shine as a macro system. With wider DOF, compact lenses and cameras, it should be wildlife macro photographers wet dream.

Hi Jon,
I came across this when looking for a information about the Olympus Macro system:
The Olympus OM system indeed shined for macro photography. I still have the 90/f2 macro. This lens is about the same size as the MFT 45/f2.8. It offers a great f2.0 for portraits and it goes up to half lifesize. Amazingly small and incredibly good images (resolution, bokeh, colour).

Remember that back then, Olympus was very much a microscope company. You could also get attachment rings for their microscopes and endoscopes. I don't know if Olympus really wants to focus on that market anymore. I have the feeling they consider their consumer business to be quite separate from their B2B business.

Peter.

It's already as versatile. Why? You can mount ALL of that OM macro equipment to your m4/3 camera and use it now. Plus the macro lenses of pretty much any manufacturer out there, excepting Canon EF due to the lack of aperture control.

My macro lens on m4/3 is the OM 50mm f/3.5, which is unbelievably sharp.

Aperture control is coming.

I do think that the 50mm f3.5 is the best macro deal, but I'd love the 90mm f2. Even the standard 50mm f2 from 43rds is astounding.
