I am thinking of getting a D100 Nikon. Here are my questions:

1 - I have the following lenses that I use with F4. AF Nikkor 70-300 mm 1:4-5.6 d and AF Nikkor 28-70 mm 1:3.5-4.5. Can I use this with the D100?

2 - I also have a speedlight flash Sb28, will it work on the D100?

3 - Finally, my 28-70 mm is broken, I believe there is a sand grain in it since it is hard to focus or rotate the rings around the lens. Is there are reputable repair shop in Los Angeles.

Any help is very much appreciated.

Thanks.

Primo.

Skip all of what you posted and just get these lenses:

AF-S 17-35/2.8
AF-S 28-70/2.8
AF-S 80-200/2.8
AF-S 300/4
50/1.8D
60/2.8 Micro
TC-14E

I have all of the above, save for the 60 Micro--I have the 105/2.8 instead. That should give you everything you'll ever need. The only thing I'm looking to add is a 600/4 MF if I can find a good one for $2,000 or less.

I am researching information about a D100 for use with a macro 105mm Vivitar lens and ring flash.

I am currently using an FM2 with slide film and having the slides scaned to send via e-mail to communicate information to lab techmicians for esthetic dentistry. If I could send 1:1 exposures using a digital camera, I would surely like that convenience.

I know the camera would also rekindle my interest in photography that has long been set aside in pursuit of myriad other interests.

Any help is very much appreciated.

Thanks.

Need SB80DX if you want to do TTL with D100.

Sure.

Yes, but not in any TTL mode. Manual mode. Break down and get an SB80DX. That's what I did.

Can't help.

Hello John,

Your 105 Vivitar and ring flash will not function will all the great features of the D100. You need an SB28DX or SB80DX and a D lens.
And probably, Nikon's SC-17 cord.
With your current set up you wont get OTF TTL exposure automation.

(As you know)
Close-up flash photography exposure is very critical.
Small changes in distance and focus make big changes.

Good Luck
