Warning, something you dont read in a Review of the F717

it not so much about the 1/30s. Its that Sony limits it because they assume i cant do it properly at slower Shutter Speeds.
I thought you were picking on regular burst moe. I looked through
the book and did notice it mentioned you can not exposure bracket
slower then 1/25. That is a pain to have to work around and I am
not really sure why the requirement anyway. But, come on, thats an
easy enough thing to work around. There are bigger problems then
this I assure you. Besides, trying to get it absolutely perfect
right out of the camera is redicules. Post process my man.

The film SLR I've been using for a while now has the same limitation. And the reason they state in the users guide is the whole hand-held thing about shaking and blur... you know the ones. It's a Canon SLR... actually both of them were.

So it's a sort of old standard, I guess.
Sony did not invent the 1/30th of a second limit you know. I has
been used from film cameras on up.

I'm an uncle!!!

I think Sony assumed that to create such "professional" shots as the ones you intend to take you would be using full-manual mode and bracketting from there compensating you exposure. Sorry to burst your bubble.

Could it be that in burst and exp. bracketing modes, you are limited to 1/30th because those modes are not compatible with noise reduction, which kicks in at 1/25th?

Don.
In S and M Mode using Burst3 and Exposure Bracketing you cannot
select Shutter Speeds faster than 1/30s ! In A-Mode the Camera
simply stops at 1/30s ! Now, why is that ? To prevent Camera Shake
i guess, thats good for Newbies who dont have much Experience with
Photography.
Does Sony really think ALL F717 Users dont know how to take Photos
with slow Shutter Speeds ? Well Sony, I DO KNOW how to do that. Why
not including a switch in the Setup Menu to turn this Behavior off
for experienced Users ? Is the F717 a Newbie Camera ? Its
definetely NOT ! It sure can be used by a Newbie in Auto Mode, but
its advanced Features make it a Prosumer Camera for the advanced
Photographer who wants more manual Control, like me.
The F717 is going to be my last Camera from Sony because i cant
stand that. The Disadvantages take over the Advantages for me now.

I think you figured it out! Before, the NR did not kick in until 1sec which according to others was the old limits of shutter speeds for burst and EB.

Yeah, But A and S are still automatic modes for users who prefer not to use manual . By choosing either mode you are relinquishing control of the 717. Might as well get a P+S type camera.

The Minolta D7Hi offers even much more control to the user but the strange thing is that even with more control, the quality of it's images are less than it's competition. Go figure!
