Hi,

Why don't you leave them a few hours/days to react and plan something ?
I'm sure they're on it and gather information.

Thanks

You guys have warranties against manufacturer defects. If Pentax did not fix this, Pentax at least Pentax USA would be facing a class action lawsuit and be in Litigation with some really good lawyers who know how to clean your act up if you did not abide by your contract or obligations.

With SDM Pentax did fix the units still under warranty. Those not under warranty, well it was sometimes yes, sometimes no. But all K-5s are under warranty I hope ;)

--It's easy for consumers in the United States, Europe and East Asia, but in the Middle East, where the agents does not have a real, but small traders.

You should know that the Pentax agent in the Arabian Gulf receiveed only 5 pieces.it is hard to me to replace the camera or return money.

I understand your situation... Which is also mine at least partly.
I'm in Switzerland and can't ask for an exchange, just a repair.
I understand it might be easier for me, but maybe not that much.
Good luck !

you are using a wrong brand if pentax doesn't offer good service in your country.

all cameras have problems - hot pixels with D7000, hot sensor with A55 just to mention a few. pentax is no different than all others(unless you look at consumer reports where nikon is least reliable). but that's what the service is for and just switch brands if it's not provided in your location.

if you can't or don't want to switch, then don't be a first in line for the new camera, let others find all of it's bugs and problems

I know it is aggravating that their quality assurance inspection failed to notice the problem when the camera left the factory. You would expect better QA for $1600.

However, your camera is under warranty. It seems to me that the fastest solution is to simply send the camera into an authorized repair center and they should replace the sensor. There shouldn't be any cost to you.

If they refuse to fix it then you have something major to complain about.

Iam two system shooter.nikon and pentax .
Nikon i is very known brand in my area and one can buy and sell it easy .
But I like Pentax cameras because I have many lenses of class star, , LTD.

Also love the small size and a strong body and this is already provided by Pentax. I also like Pentax colors . That's why I'm here, but at the same time I want a good return for what I PAY.

I allready mentioned this article in one thread. Article about bad batches of cameras and lenses - https://www.lensrentals.com/news/2010.03.06/this-lens-is-soft-and-other-facts

I think they know what are they writing, because they are photographic equipment rental company.

Quote from article (regarding lenses, but that doesn't matter, replace for yourself word "lens" with word "body"):

"When the manufacturer knows about a “bad batch”, they probably identify the problem and correct it for future lenses, but they aren’t going to announce it unless they absolutely have to – when something is so bad it’s affecting overall sales of that item. Roger’s Rule of Problem Announcements: Once its announced that 5% of lens X has a certain problem, 50% of the members of any online forum will announce their lens has the problem. Whether they own lens X or not."

Article from french magazine. original article is removed, only translation remained on this thread - http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/read.asp?forum=1003&message=26795694
This is about canon, when they had problems with autofocus of 1D Mark-III

What I wanted to say with my posts in your thread - don't wait public reaction from manufacturer. maybe only when there is very big trouble...

Jesus people, if you buy a camera and find a defect, just return the freak'in thing to the store you bought it from and buy another one. 95% of stores out there offer some sort of return policy in the first so many days, no questions asked. Adorama, Abes, B&H, etc. all let you send it back. It doesn't take any more effort than that. You don't have to send it away under warranty for repair, you don't have to call Pentax and beg for a deal to make it right, you aren't stuck with it now for life! Stop being such a drama queen.

But if you were dumb enough to spend $1650 at one of the few stores with no return policy, punch yourself in the face for your own stupidity. This isn't that hard. What's the problem here?

BINGO ! Exactly !!

I had to return a Sony TV last month with a hot pixel. A couple of years ago I returned TWO Canon cameras that had defects. It is not nice. We wish it didnt happen. But thats life.

Why people are such drama queens I do not know. I dare say there are a few who think there is a problem when it is in fact dust.. and talking of dust, you should have seen the state of the canon 5D I bought once. Full of crud. Even Pentax looks like it was made in a hermetically sealed outer space vault and assembled by robots in a vacuum, considering the crud that was in my Canon. I was irritated until the shop fixed it. And then I did'nt care.

The problem here is that you write in an inappropriate manner
And I do not need such an advice from you that full of all these insults.

So how bad is the defect in your camera? And why did you choose to start a new thread rather than share this in one of the many already running?

Hey, the guy may not be polite. But he is right. There really is no need for all the shrieking and drama on this forum.

Sometimes we are disappointed. It happened to me with a two Canons, only recently with a Sony TV I had to return. But it is no big deal. Exchange it and move on.
