AA battery holder

Won't work to good for anything but batteries. The case is contoured and has separators all the way to the top to accomadate the batteries.

Thanks, I wasn't aware of that. Looking at the picture of the case on the site I wasn't able to see the separators. If that's the case I might cancel my order and wait for when Thomas Distributors starts offering their cases for sale.

RE: 6-AA battery pack

My site has links to electronics part vendors, and you can try RadioShack.com, but you might just try buying a 7.2v battery pack designed for radio controlled cars. They come in various sizes, and you can get chargers for them.

You can also buy 6.Volt gel-cell batteries in various sizes. Just remember, they last longer if you keep the charge topped off, as opposed to draining them fully like Nicads and NiMh batteries.

I think he's specifically refering to the Thomas cases.

The spacers are nice when you have batteries in the cases. It keeps them from rolling around when you are in the process of changing batteries.

You might be able to cut out the spacers, if there are any. I put 4 SmartMedia cards into a plastic SmartMedia holder by cutting out the tabs.

I bought one of these Q-tip packs just in case I wanted to do that, but I still use it as a Q-tip case since I only use batteries in sets of 4. It's a very nice travel case for Q-tips, much better than the baggie I was using.
This is gonna sound silly....I found a travel pack of q-tips that
holds 6AA's (for my sunpak 544) very nicely.

Not interested in the cases, but what they had inside of them! Now
I'm going to have to buy a set or two of those GP2000s !!
Is the extra few Mah worth the expense though?

$2.75 for an 1800 mAh but $3.95 for 2000 mAh?

That's 43.6% more cost for 11% more capacity.
Or am I missing something?

Inigo, that's why I ordered the 1800's, myself. I did the same math, got the same answer...

I spoke to Greenbatteries and their plastic cases do not look like the ones from Thomas Distr (high dividers). They look like the ones the batteries are shipped in when you buy an Olympus camera (very short spacers on the bottom of one side of the case). So they will be ideal for storing SM/CF cards and remote control.

I can't argue on the prices, but even though I have 3 sets of the 1800s and 1 set of the original Oly batteries, I noticed on a typical outing, I'll only carry what's in the camera and one extra set of batteries that will fit into the little pocket of the small Olympus leather case and a couple of extra 128 cards in the zippered top compartment. That's usually enough for an afternoon of picture taking, but occassionally I run out of battery power. I could carry more stuff with me, like an extra set of 1800s, but I know my habits too, so I probably won't. With three little kids, most family ourtings are like packing for a safari, so the less I have to worry about carrying the better, so I'll just grab my camera case and go. The extra $10 versus a few unmissed shots of those smiling little knuckleheads becomes worth it to me.

Ordered what I thought was 1 set on Monday. When I got the confirmation email that night, it stated 2 sets ordered. I emailed them right away and left a message stating I only wanted 1 set...(I must have had 2 in my basket). Anyway, got an email on Tues from them stating that they shipped the 2 sets before they got my email, and that they credited my cc for 1 set. Said to just keep the extra set.
