I've had my DSC-S70 for a couple of months now and think it's just great. I took quite a few pictures at my nephews graduation party last month. I printed out the pictures for him and also burned a CD of them. I would like to make a self running slide show of them. We are also having a big family reunion at our house and have a lot of pictures to put into a slide show. Does anyone have any suggestions which program is a good one to make self running slideshows with? Any info would be great.

Thanks,--Randy

Try to download the ACDsee trial programs from http://www.acdsee.com . It is a great program for picture browsing and full screen slide show.

Try Picturestoexe from http://www.wnsoft.com

It's only $20.00 to register it and it is well worth it. I also took a bunch of pictures at a graduation party and created a slideshow with Picturestoexe and sent it to the graduate the next day and they loved it. Added MP3's of Daddy's little etc and everyone cried when they first saw it. Pictures to exe takes all of your photo's and sound files and writes them to an exe file which you can set up to autoplay when the cd is inserted. The end user doesn't need any software to view it.

Randy -

I don't know if this is what you have in mind, but there is also the great little image viewer called IrfanView. It's FREE, and it has a little configurable slideshow applet contained in the program. It's an excellent little image viewer with some editing capabilities.

Like many slideshow programs, however, you'd need to make sure that at the party no one can touch or has access to the keyboard or mouse, which usually disables the slideshow.

Even if you don't use it for the slideshow, I'm sure you'll like this little program.

Randy,

In addition to the excellent suggestions you have received, you may want to take a look at cPictures. In addition to being a great slide-show program (let's you include text with your pictures, etc.) it also can create html code for a web page. Take a look at my photo page - all picture pages were created with cPicture and follow the Links page to download a copy.

You can buy Microsoft Home Publisher 2000 which includes Picture It 2000 and the ability to create self-running slide shows plus much more. Best of all, it's only $10 (after rebate) from Staples.

If you buy $50 from Staples, use code 90171 to save $20 and get free shipping.
