some photos from China - s110

Thanks for your nice words.
For Elph, the tips for me must be - stability; stability; and stability

Apart from that, when using Photoshop, alway resize to something like 50%; 25%; 12.5%, instead of something like 30%, 16%, ...

Always apply sharpen after resize.

Enjoy

Hi Nick,

Your pics look great! Can you share some tips on how you took
these pics? I have a Canon S230 and would like to learn how I can
take better pictures going forward!

All hellp is appreciated!

Hello Nick,

Thanks for your tips! Any starting values that I should use for the unsharp mask? Did you use a tripod for all shots or are some handheld? Did you use AUTO or did you manually set the ASA and exposure?

I have the Canon S230; Do you know if the camera capability of the S230 is the same as the S100? I have heard through this forum that some have feel the S230's pictures will not be as sharp (unretouched photos) as the S100 and I'm wondering if you have experienced this or not...

Thanks again and keep the photos coming!

Herman

I suggest you just use Photoshop's default "sharpen" command, especially when s230 is bit less sharp than my s110. You you look carefully, some of my photos are over sharpened.

The reason I am using default "sharpen" command is because I am using batch action to process my photos.

I do occasionally manual sharpen some photo myself, but I don't use unsharpen mask, I use KPT Equalizer, which according to someone, has the best sharpen result.

I don't use tripod as often as some might think, I lean again something normally. And I use self timer a lot, which is a good idea in many cases.

I do set exposure compensation if needed.

I also heard s200 and s230 is not as sharp as s110, mostly because of the diffence of the lens or something. But that perhaps enable to use default "sharpen" command more conveniently.

Thanks for your help Nick. I played with the unsharp mask and it seems to work really well. The sharpen option seems to do a little, but not enough. Keep up the great pics!
