This should really be posted in the General forum or beginners questions, but here's the short answer.
PP stands for Post-Processing (some call it "post" as well)
It usually incorporates a raw file converter that can work with levels and curves, an image editor, as well as a few aftermarket plug-ins.
It's all personal taste, but some of the big ones are:
Raw converters:
Lightroom, Aperture, Capture NX2 (only on Nikons)
Image editors:
Photoshop
Gimp
Plug-ins:
Noise Ninja, Topaz Labs "DeNoise", Topaz Labs "Detail", and Photomatix (for HDR)
Look around and find out what you like. Most of these have fully functional trials for 30-60 days. They simply cost too much to buy ones that you don't like/need.
Hope this helps. Cheers,
Nathan
I have seen some people posting things such as boost the sharpness in PP. I don't understand what PP is. It is not Photoshop right since that will be PS.
