Yeah, so it's only 3 megapixels and the lcd is about the size of a postage stamp!

It's still a fun little camera! The limited zoom range and the inability to crop very much make it a good training camera. It makes me look for a shot and then -- very carefully -- fill the frame.

And -- for what it's worth -- Minolta used to write such elegant manuals for their cameras.

Images in the next post.

Bruce,

These are excellent. It looks as though you really know how to get the best out your new purchase.

The "X" series is certainly an innovative design. It's interesting that you shoot TIFFs. I find that my F300 can produce excellent quality images in TIFF mode, especially at ISO64. The only downside is that the files take an age to write to the SD card.

Thanks!

The tiffs are are "lossless" images, no compression. Also, I turn off the noise reduction in camera.

Nice work Bruce - you're also shooting in the perfect mode, providing you're got the exposure and WB spot on, which you clearly have done in these shots.

When I owned a KM 7i, I always used it in TIFF mode - TIFF files are bigger and slower but the results from the 7i were always excellent and far superior to .jpg.

In fact, if someone doesn't like shooting RAW with say their A2, unless writing speed is absolutely essential or the shots are unimportant, I can't see any reason to shoot .jpg unless it's for low level, email quality shots.
Enjoy your new camera.

Tony
