What protection for A55 LCD?

I would like to put some protective cover on the LCD of my A55, ideally something that is also less prone to fingerprints.

I had an invisible shield on the LCD of my A700 and was very satisfied with it. There is none made particularly for the A55, but I guess I could just use any 3' cover.

If anyone has some experience with invisible shield on the A55 or has other suggestions, I would appreciate the feedback, thanks!

And a happy thanksgiving weekend to everyone who celebrates it. :)

Since I usually prefer using the viewfinder, I keep my LCD screen turned around most of the time, but particularly when the camera is not being used... sort of like using a lens cap to protect the lens.

I tried a few of the trim to fit sheets that you can get for ipads. They worked well to reduce finger prints and protect the screen, but the slight distortion created by the anti-glare properties of the sheets annoyed me. I felt like the fantastic screen resolution was being compromised, so I removed them, and have decided to just be careful. I also turn the screen face in when not in use and most of the time in the field.

Sony A55, A500, HDR-SR12, T100
Lenses: Sigma18250 OS HSM, Maxxum 50mm 1.7, SAM 18-55mm, SAL70400G, SAL70300G

Since I first tried "xoskins", I use them on all my small LCD screens for protection. The install process requires more effort, but the results are better than anything else I have tried.

I ordered one for a large cell phone (HTC EVO 4G to be specific) and trimmed it with scissors to fit the a55. It's been on there 3 weeks so far and I have been very happy with it.

I did exactly what you have suggested, I have the invisibleshield on my MacBook Pro and iPhone 4 and LOVE IT!. I purchased the Zagg invisibleshield for the Sony TX1 as it has the same size screen as the A55. As previously noted the anti-glare coating on the screen seems to smear but clears up easily with a clean cloth.

Does yours it fit the entire glass part of the lcd or just the part that displays pixels. I purchased the zagg for tx1 and it only covered the screen not the black border. Oh well might have to return it if amazon will take it back... This is the one i purchased:

No one. The glass is hard enough. My A700 has about 50.000 shots, and nothing happened to my LCD. Looks like new.

I bought a PCK-LM1AM which is the one made for the A33/A55 and fits perfectly. It was more expensive (£14) than any others that were either supposed to fit or need to be cut to fit, as it is a Sony product.

But a small price to protect properly a potentially fragile element on a not cheap (but great value) camera.

I bought this and it is great! I can't even see that it's there and yes you can flip the LCD facing in.

I am glad I got it because although I usually keep my Panasonic G1 LCD facing in, this one you really can't because of the lack of information about settings in the EVF. All that unused space in the EVF view and not much there. Am I missing a setting? I went through the manual again today and couldn't find any setting that gave me more info in the EVF. Then if I turn histogram on, most everything else goes away.

Total price for Sony's PCK_LM1AM is $18 with shipping and taxes.
Ouch.

I paid $12.17. I always have things in my "shopping list" at amazon.com ready to make up to $25 for free shipping when necessary...

You're not missing anything. Unfortunately, this seems to be one of the short-comings of the A55.

It's anyone's guess whether it will be addressed in the next firmware update.

There are LCD Screen Protector sheets available that are cheap, do not interfere with the view the way the hard plastic ones do and are very effective.

With the correct view the EVF shows everything but iso. What do you find missing? It shows more than I generally need. The LCD shows all the settings available when you push the f button but since you can't do anything with it it's just useless clutter.
