**Weekly Wildlife Thread #67-Sunday November 21st, 2010**

The first shot is a beauty with all of that shining color. I've seen your white peacock before and he always amazes me both with his beauty and the strangeness of it. I like the shots with the flamingos peeking through the white feathers, adds to the other-worldliness quality. The feathers are lovely, like a lacy white veil.
Thanks for posting.

Hi Dodge,

There is a ton of poison ivy around here, huge vines growing up trees and I took some shots when they were all bright red. Your photos are very good at showing the progression of color through the fall. Lovely plant at times, just don't get too close. Nice little wildflower too.
Thanks for posting.

...much more often! While I think your wetlands shots are wonderful (I like the coot in this bunch), these beach shots were a particular treat. Love the white-eyed vireo and yellow-crowned night heron. The real prize as you know is that Chuck-will's widow. I'd give my eye teeth to see one of these. I think Harry (Rich) had a shot of one or it's close relatives. Marvelous.

Your Sony does much better at high ISO than I would have guessed. The detail on those raccoons is very good.
Thanks for posting.

Thank you indeed. That chuck-will's was an awesome first-time sighting - I really hope I can catch one again in that area...I intend over the next week or two to get back to that same beach park and see if I can find him.

The A500/550 was the first of the new generation Sony DSLRs with their new sensor (same as D90, Pentax KX, etc) that really performs comfortably at high ISO...this was really the first Sony DSLR that could shoot at ISO1600 and up as well as the competitors. Most of the Sony cameras since have been very competitive using this new sensor development as well as processing. I will routinely shoot to ISo3200 without a thought...and 6400 if needed...only ISO12800 remains emergency-only. The newer ones with the multistacking abilities sound like they can really crush the APS-C competition for still scenes at least. It's great that all of the manufacturers are making such good cameras today, and technology has made them all quite capable and competitive.

and thanks Diane for posting this link. The interaction with the water feature is just incredible but the one that did it for me was the two perfectly in focus hummers at the same flower.

More wonderful images! Really enjoy the coon shots! They are cute but don't ever corner one.

Very pretty bird and good job through double glass. My dining room window does not have double glass so I am able to get pretty good quality shots through it but the other windows in my house are no good to shoot through.

What is it's name in English? It looks like a chickadee relative, some kind of tit perhaps?
Thanks for posting.

thank you! It is the Great Tit in English. My feeders are getting a land office business now as we have a little snow and it is staying below freezing.
