Awesome but your subject line scared me... I thought you dropped the cazm into a lake.. You mean ON THE LAKE ar AT THE LAKE or BY THE LAKE but not IN the lake !! :) Thank you for sharing, gorgeous pictures !!!

:D Grazie, Thank you, - Sal

As in that second photo of yours. The sparsity of detail within the image and the color of the reflections make it an impressionistic winner. Thanks.

Very nice, especially 2 & 5. Since you were working with raw, I might have applied a bit of noise reduction on some of these. Personally, I like the smoother effect Noiseware creates. But its just a matter of taste. Grain is nice too.

Thanks for the comment. I feel I may have overdone it with sharpening on this one, hence the detail and also some more noise than usual :P but I kind of liked the final result so ...

Hi, thanks for looking.

I'm used to shoot in RAW so whatever settings I use for the processing engine do not matter. Frankly I did not spend any time to experiment with picture styles and contrast, sharpening, saturation and NR settings that affect the JPG so I cannot help there.

So my approach is (for themes like these - nature etc.):
  • Shoot in RAW mode and Auto White Balance
  • Apertrure Priority
  • LOW ISO as long as there is enough light to give me an acceptable shutter speed
  • After noticing some blown highlights I compensate to -0.66 or -1 EV
In Post Processing (with Photoshop):
  • I adjust the WB and add Clarity in the RAW process.
  • I adjust the levels and curves in order to enhance contrast and tonal range
  • Apply an unsharp mask in the Lightness channel in LAB color mode
  • crop & resize
I hope the above helps you a bit.
Beautiful shots!! Thanks for sharing. Would you mind sharing your settings on the FZ100 for these pictures?

:) Thank you for your nice comment, I'm really happy you liked the pics.
Very nice tassosl. :D It is not difficult to see why the ancient Greeks were so enamoured by notions of harmony.

Hi, I'm happy that you liked the pics.

Also thanks for the Noiseware suggestion. I rarely apply noise reduction. I'm used to shoot with a Canon EOS 40D that is noise free up to ISO800 and when I use 1600 or 3200 is on really dark subjects - situations that grain is not so horrible :P The FZ100 is another story ...

No 2 of the pics has been oversharpenned with unsharp and this has produced some noise. Any post processing adds noise anyway. I hjope I'll be able to experiment with the camera processing engine so that I can produce output that will need minimal post processing, but I'm not there yet.

I'll try Noiseware and NoiseNinja to see what they can do. Thanks!
