-- Jet doing touch & go's at our little Lynchburg Regional Airport. I pretty sure it is too big to actually land here easily.

Picture quality not great, but shooting into sun for most shots. 30D and 18-200mm.

Thanks,

Did you just happen to be in the area or did the local paper announce that this plane was going to be flying in and you had some advance notice?

Nice shots, either way. I guess they must use that plane for other lower-ranking U.S. Govt. officials.

Thanks again.

Others can probably confirm better than I can, but I think it's Air Force C-40? Plane used for official business, government leaders, commanders, etc.

It's shorter than the C-32, and clearly smaller than the VC-25, which is what is commonly used as "Air Force One" (noting that "Air Force One" refers to an Air Force plane's official air traffic control sign when transporting the President , which is not aircraft specific).

It is a smaller plane the Pres uses when flying into regional airports. They do lot of touch-and-goes in Charlottesville. I believe it is the one that landed in Charlottesville last week.

I think that's the C-32 you are thinking of, which is slightly longer than what's pictured here. The C-32 is the go to short-field capacity plane for most POTUS purposes. But I am not absolutely certain.

You should contact the local paper in Lynchburg...they might be interested in publishing that photo (you never know). Thanks again for sharing.

Great shots!

DB is right, it is a C-40B which in non military terms is a 737-700 modified to be fancy "office in the sky" as Boeing likes to call it. In any case it is a great plane to ride it, and fly. ;)
