Thanks Gary; actually fed this result into FotoSketcher and got a cool gouche, but decided not to post that result. This one was a simple degrunge followed by Xero's Supersmooth filter for the most part (amplified the sat some too). So many possibilities; excellent capture for sure.

I like all these edits, and I think the reason is that the original photo is so good. Wonderful soft lighting for a portrait. I imagine that it was taken under just the natural lighting of an overcast day.
BTW, Whitby (in NE England) where the photo was taken, is my original home town -- very picturesque and highly recommended for photographic opportunities.
