I have been involved with this forum for the last couple of months and gained some valuable information on my camera the S602. Originally I was a doubter myself thinking the camera not sharp enough, especially with my images showing on my monitor. However, now I have fully tried tested and printed my images, I am completely happy with my camera. In fact I have just completed my web site which is going to be on going. Every image on my web site has been taken using the S602. If you would like to visit it, please click on the link below.

Any comments on the web site or images posted on there will be much appreciated. For all you doubters.

Great site Howie. Superb work.

Yes, you seem to be getting good results. Lovely natural colours, good exposure and sharp. But the composition and the thought behind your work is excellent too.

Ian

Thank you Ian for commenting on my work and also for visiting the site. I still have a long way to go with photography but because of digital I can go on and hopefully progress :)

Hi!

great pictures! I personally love the landscapes pictures the most, fantastic. Also the b&w shots are great, I really got to use that b&w function, never considered it before. Unfortunately it's not an effect but a program. But it should be fine for the most situations.

Magnificent pictures. I just ordered S602 few days ago and now I'm REALLY looking forward of getting it.

I hope you are not a professional, because if you are not, it would mean I can take that kind of pictures too :)

Hi and thank you for the kind comments on my web site and photographs. I am certainly not a professional and have so much more to learn :) Just follow these two simple rules. Use the rule of thirds and allow for depth of field and hopefully, most of the images come out very well :)

Thanks again

Hi Jochen,

Thanks for the comments and for looking at the web site. I must admit I use adobe to make my images b&w. I have not tried the incamera setting for b&w yet. I might just give it a go when the weather breaks :)

Nice shots. I particuarly like some of your digital imaging shots. This is an area that I have'nt explored much, but I find your pictures an inspiration to try. How did you achieve the faces in the wood effect. That is amazing.

Great PIcs ! I wish I could get a few sunsets such as yours, but alas I'm on the west coast of the Gulf of Mexico, so I guess I could ony try for the Sunrises ! ;-).

I'm looking for a method of displaying photos on my web site similar to yours. Did it take a lot of coding to do your method or was it a 3rd party tool or a function of say FrontPage ? Any help or guidance most appreciated.

One of these days I'll get to a point I can do some of the neat tricks you;ve accomplished with Photoshop too (I hope) !
Thanks again

Great shots! I really like the composition of your portraits because they're close enough to capture more of the subjects personality. Like you I hope to learn more about photography now that I have a good digital, I never had the discipline to write down settings to remember how I took my 35mm shots.

My only other comment is that on a Win 98SE box, running IE6, your pop up windows come up behind the main window and I have to click them on the task bar to view them. Sorry I can't point out the code change, but your a web guy!

Thanks very much for the comments and also the tip on the pop up windows using Win98 and IE6. This is something I will have to look into. I'll check the web forums and find out why this is happening :)

Hi Arno,

No I have never sold any photographs as no one has ever asked to buy any. I just take for fun and to portray my work online for family, friends and any one else who wishes to look at them. I would not even know where to start and how much to charge someone for an image of mine.

Thanks for looking ;)

Hi Joe,

Thanks for the comments and also for looking on my web site. I use mainly Dreamweaver 4 for my web sites but also have Frontpage. There are plus and minus with either editor. I just happen to prefer Dreamweaver as I have spent more time using it.

The majority of encoding is done by Dreamweaver itself. The secret I find that works for me is to create a table and put tables within tables. Im not sure if it works on netscape but then again, 99% of people who visit my site use IE. I suppose because its built into windows.

For a pop up window, its in the section behaviours in dreamweaver. You have to edit the code a little so instead of when the mouse goes over the image it loads the pop up, you change the code word over to down. This then only sets the pop up to go off when you press down with the left mouse button.

There are many better and more polished web sites than mine but this works for my limited knowledge on web design and portrays my work quite well :)

Thanks again,

Howie

Hi Howie,
Well...if it's not your first goal to sell pictures I have a suggestion for you.

Your Phoro's are a little bit on the small size. If you can manage to make a standarization on ..let's say 800x600 or 1024x768, the pictures will be much sharper on the monitor!!

Hi Arno,

Thank you for the advice on the photographs. I suppose I made the web site with a 56.6k modem in mind. Probably only 25% or more of people in the UK have access to ADSL so if I were to put images up of 1024*768 the download time would be quite substantial compared to either the 480*360 or 600*456 images I have on there now.

I may start working on an ADSL site or just give the option of either ADSL or standard web site. I value your critique and its opened my mind up to new possibilities :)

Thanks again,

Howie

He is right, the images look much better in 800x600, but you're also right with the size.

You saw my page, I guess it has terrible loading times with isdn, better don't talk about analog. adsl is really necessary. Hopefully only a few people in Germany have anything different than adsl, so I'm on the safer side ;)

But two sites doubles the work, that's the reason I still have an english-only site, instead of an english and a german one.

I have Windows 2000 and use Mozilla. Works fine here, also with Internet Explorer 6.
It's a riddle why this happens.
