Just figured I'd post some 775 pics, just for fun. Still a pretty competent little camera. And before anyone tells me that the Hulk could have been sharper, keep in mind it moves out of that loop at over 40 MPH. All timing.

Hi Ryan

great pictures, I also have a coolpic 775, do you print yours and do they come out grainy? I'm just new at this printing bit. and would love some help. I have a Epson c80.
thanks

I actually don't have a photo printer. Occassionally, I order prints from dotphoto (on the web), and they come out pretty good, at least at 4x6. But IMHO, a 2 megapixel image printed at anything greater than about 5x7 is going to look grainy.

Another problem I've had with the 775 is that there's tons of noise in typical indoor shots. I think the camera resorts to high ISO settings much too quickly. But outdoor shots are often great.

Ryan,
Wonderful shots.

I have found with my 775 that if moving objects are coming directly towards me (as in your photo) or directly away from me, then I can get a sharp image. If moving objects are going from left to right or right to left, the images are blurry.

Kristine,

I print a lot of images from my 775 and very few are grainy - some low light ones are a bit grainy without editing - right from the camera. On the following web page, I have over 450 images taken with a 775 on a trip I took to Italy in May. Perhaps you might want to take a look at some of them. I printed all of them on an HP 7150 printer and again, just a few of them were noticeably grainy.

Here's another shot, this time the action coming from the side. Not too bad, but you can tell the camera must have cranked up the ISO to compensate (check the gray columns). The noise is one of my biggest problems with the 775.

Just checked the picture info, and ISO is 100. For some reason, I just find shots from the 775 have more noise than they should.

I think the 775 was highly under-rated. I can get good 8x10s from it with my Epson 785EPX.

are spectacular! Where were they shot? We get them migrating here in Oregon.

Did you get that close or is it just the 775's zoom?

The pelicans are African Pelicans that live at the Animal Kingdom Lodge in Orlando, Florida. I was about 10-15 feet away, and used the 775 zoom for composition, mostly. AK Lodge is a great place to take photos, and a fantastic Disney hotel--my new favorite. Every day they fed dinner to three giraffes right outside my room window, about 100 feet away. Small herds of Impala, African Cattle, really neat stuff.

I've seen pictures taken with two difference 775s. In my opinion it's one of the best secrets among Nikon's cameras. Great value for the money. Not much post processing necessary with images from this gem...and the price is right too!
