TL350 Shots

Valentin,

Really nice set of images. Nice and sharp and most are well exposed. Did you change the contrast, sharpness or saturation adjustments? Your color saturation looks very good.

The shot of the bottles is well exposed for the bottles as it should be. One way to get the background exposure down is to take 3 bracketed shots. Then use a HDR feature in a graphics editing software to get a better exposure for the background.

Hope my images turn out as nice as yours,
Sky

Setting EV is only available in PASM, Dual-IS and Movie modes. Changing the EV value while in any of those modes does not seem to affect EV while in the Smart-Auto mode. So must shoot in PASMDualMovie to allow EC adjustments to work.
Thanks Sky. If Smart-Auto is ok for indoor pics, then EC could be left at about -1/3 for outdoor pics using any of the modes you list, and then Smart-Auto for indoors? I have read that with other Samsungs the smart auto mode boosts ISO higher than some like, but this plan may be the best compromise for me to make this camera more quick to use. Most of my pictures are of people, and especially kids, and they are not going to want to wait while I fiddle with camera settings. By the time I make the adjustment, they will be gone. If I can make a really quick adjustment with the mode wheel, that might work. My old Oly has two custom settings on the mode dial. Those could be configured any way you want. I wish other cameras would have at least one custom setting on the mode dial.

Sure, post them in your gallery here or wherever. DPR has the storage space it seems. I use SmugMug for my galleries, but others use Pbase.com or Picasa web galleries - http://picasaweb.google.com/home

As someone said, "Your first 10,000 pictures are the worst."
(Would it be most appropriate to put them in a gallery? I don't want to distract too much from the threads here where people are trying to assess what the TL350 can do.)

Thanks, Sky ... I'm learning a lot already with this cam, and having fun =)

I didn't do any adjustments to the images. I'm definitely gonna mess with all the available in-camera and some post-processing options once I feel I have a better handle on things - lol

I just received our TL350 yesterday but from what I've seen so far that plan should work well. Shoot in P-Mode with EC set to -1/3 in bright sunlight and switch to SA-Mode when the subject is in the shade, on overcast days and indoors. Since both modes are adjacent on the mode dial, it would actually be faster than switching to a custom mode a few clicks away.

FWIW on my Panny FZ50, I normally shoot in P-Mode and have EC set to -1/3 EV when shooting in bright sunlight. I do use the histogram and adjust EC for certain shots but your plan should work quite well for quick use. I'm finding that the TL350 has very good auto exposure control.

Know exactly what you mean.. :)

Shot in macro mode, cropped and tweaked the JPEG with lightroom. I can't get good results processing the RAW file with Samsung/Silkypix software.

Just how close did you get?

Overall I can't say enough positive things about this camera. Sure it would be nice if it had HD video or a higher resolution screen but those aren't required to take fantastic pictures.

that first shot with ISO 800 indeed is impressive, sharp without graininess at all.

Anyone know what size print this will be equivalent to?

I am interested in getting grainless print from TL500 or TL350 with around 24x18" size. Is this realistic with good light mainly with scenery? (wife wants some pictures on the wall).

I took these at a farmers' market just a little while ago - ...
Hi Valentin23,

I see in the EXIF info that the farmers market pictures were shot with White Balance: Manual.

I'm loving the colors there. Can you tell me if you did CUSTOM or did you set specific Color Temperature?

Thanks!

I'd like it if we could try to consolidate TL350/WB2000 pictures in this thread. I frequent a Canon forum where they have one thread for pics from each lens, or each compact camera - it's handy.

Now, more macro!

Cool shot, Matt .

I'm used to shooting with the FZ's , TZ's and LX's of the Panasonic line.
I'm enjoying my pretty new TL350...so far...so good.

some pictures from my WB2000. These were JPG's out of the camera. The third one was cropped in PE9. With the release of Lightroom 3.3 I mainly shoot RAW and process them in Lightroom which gives an even better result, especially for lens corrections.
