I am raising a new thread, because the original one is old and people might not read this update. Having had un unsatisfactory telephone call to Nikon Tech about P7000 focus, sluggish menu and RAW process time problems, I sent an email, to which I received the following reply.

> "The P7000 camera has only just been released on the market and at the moment we have no information concerning a possible firmware update. We have also not heard from any P7000 owners regarding the issues that you mention.

We are not able to comment on any information posted on the Internet, however if any P7000 owner contacts us with any concerns regarding the camera operation, we will be happy to investigate and possibly troubleshoot it.

Similarly, if you had any comments or suggestions arising from the use of the P7000 in real life conditions we will be happy to pass them on to our Design and Quality department for further consideration. Should some particular suggestions be reported by a sufficient number of the camera owners and indeed be possible to implement by means of a firmware update, we don't see a reason why a firmware update wouldn't be made available at some point."

So any of you that have experienced problems with P7000, I suggest you do as they say and contact them, In that way things may get sorted.

By The Way - you are P7000 user, or just trolling?

I am having little luck with nikon service with regard to the P7000. I emailed through their website and listed several issues in detail, typical of many 'help desks'...I received a reply that told me how to adjust the LCD brightness....which was not the issue.

I sent a reply and waited two days, no answer. I sent another message yesterday and am awaiting a response.

The more I read on this forum, the less likely I am to buy a P7000. It seems as if Nikon has launched this prematurely, but their support can't cope with it.

I agree with the last post, I really wanted the P7000 but now intend to wait six months or so to see what happens. One instance where I am happy to be a follower rather than a leader in the purchase of a new camera.

Smart decision to wait. I'm one of those that pre-ordered and took delivery blindly based on Nikon's own review and marketing hype. IQ aside, the P7000 is no where close to what Nikon claims it to be, partly from of lack of attention to the small details, partly because of the weak operating system. To me that qualifies as false advertising. Unfortunately for consumers a majority of the reviews from the usual online sources read like they photo copied Nikons literature, with little or no mention of the issues revealed by actual users. One has to wonder what they would loose by being thorough. The only reviewer that openly expressed his disappointment is good old Ken Woodrock . Maybe we should be forwarding our individual lists of deficiencies to Ken if customer service refuses to acknowledge them as legitimate.

I'm not whining; I'm warning buyers to be aware and consider seriously if they can live with the camera as it is. Make sure your vendor has a return period that gives you time to make an educated evaluation. And don't take the marketing hype at face value.

I still love the IQ. But there are too many unnecessary hurdles and hoops in the process of squeezing the most out of that IQ.

I'm not disappointed, but there are some issues. I've bee out shooting for hdr-processing a lot. I'm using both raw and a set of jpegs as start. The two problems I have met are that some .nrw's turns heavily green after conversion to tif or jpeg. The other is that bracketing cant be chosen together with remote control (ML-L3) or timer. I have sent the camera to Nikon support and they returned it with the comment

" We can confirm that your product works according to the manufacturer's specifications and that it is free from defects."

Well I do not agree ;-) This image looks alright in jpeg image saved along with the raw pic (nrw+fine).

Sorry! Here is the photo(I had to compress it a little...)
