Last weekend we jollied off to the New Forrest for an all day celebration of my wifes 50th Birthday. One of the shots of the day struck me as the archetypal chocolate box cover:

Nice shot, John. You are right, it would be a nice cover for a chocolate box. Or a calendar. Better yet, for a travel brochure for that area. It interests me and relaxes me at the same time. Of course, at my age, most things affect me that way.....I am a senior, senior citizen.

POGO was right !

I am not trying to get all Rorschach on you, but it also looks like a face hiding behind the bushes. It's a really cool shot, not to mention an interesting cottage. Brings back memories of when we visited Stratford on Avon.

i processed a little the image to make it even more standout and look livelier...

Here is the GIF showing the difference.. After the GIF is the actual puched image....
GREAT SHOT !!!

:D Grazie, Thank you, - Sal

IMO it looked better before, I think the rework is sharpened too much with too much contrast.

I think the original shot whilst a nice scene is a bit overexposed. If shot in raw you could sort it out by doing a bit of quick mask insert a sky from an altered exposure in a raw process with a slightly exposure corrected main scene.

I agree the image could handle less exposure. I judge EV from the EVF brightness and tend to present everything on this forum OOC. If I intend to mount a print the whole PP thing starts up, largely to match image to printer output.

A beautiful image John, it may be archetypal as you say, but it is certainly well photographed which isn’t always the case. No doubt about it, the fz50 still cuts the mustard big time – no better friend than an old one. :D

I really appreciate you taking time to adjust the image. I have my own mind set on what I want from each image, but it's refreshing to see your alternative take on it. I think I would probably rotate the image to stand the cottage upright and let the telegraph pole on the right lean instead. Then I might crop it a little. After that Kernows observation of overexposure would be corrected. Your image enhancements remind me of the actual results I see on chocolate boxes; though perhaps a little too far.

John, I see you're having fun with the Lumix, and I noted your comment:

"I would probably rotate the image to stand the cottage upright and let the telegraph pole on the right lean instead. Then I might crop it a little"........

Yes, I noted it was a little 'busy', so quickly adjusted it in LR!

Thanks for sharing the chocolate-box reference!
