I downloaded the free version of this HDR program by a Polish programmer. Free version has no user interface. But I think it has potential and am considering the paid version. Does anyone use and recommend the Pro version? Why do you like it vs others? Does anyone know if this currently works from within Lightroom 3.2? Or is expected toin a future version?

I use SNS extensively and its an excellent piece of software. In many cases I think it gives better natural looking results than Photomatix, which I also have, particularly for bracketed interior shots. If you prefer the grungy HDR look, then Photmatix is a better bet (or take a look at Topaz Adjust). SNS can also work remarkably well with just one exposure.

Another big advantage of SNS is that the interface is WYSIWYG so that you can properly see the affects of adjustments before saving your image. I find Photomatix a bit weak in this area (although v 4 has improved it).

There is currently no LR plug-in. I emailed Sebastian (the author) a few weeks ago about this and I know he is looking in to it. I believe it would improve sales of SNS quite a bit if it were done. I'll email him again to see if there is any progress. It would be an important update for me because LR is central to my workflow.

You may want to let him know that for me, the lack of Lightroom integration is why his program fell off the shortlist I have.

There is an SNS discussion on Flicrk at:
http://www.flickr.com/groups/hdr/discuss/72157622648650562/

Where I and others have pointed out some significant problems with the engine, specifically the generation of wierd noise or artifact patterns. The progam author had participated in that discussion. He promised updates to the program, but about 2 months ago he disappeared and has not been heard from since.

Being a one-man operation, I suspect he ran into problems beyond his capacity. Perhaps he will resurface some day. But for now, the noise/artifact problem is a kiss-of-death for many.

Similar situation on the Oloneo HDR program beta. Promised release not met, beta extended to November 1. No word from the author on status or intended price, yet only 5 days remaining on the beta.

No later than the day after tomorrow will release version 1.3, which improves all the reported bugs. Developing a new color management module and function to auto removal of ghosts delayed the release a new version.

Sebastian - you just made my day with the ghost removal. Can't wait to try it out.

In response to the OP, SNS is my main app when I need to manage difficult situations like interior spaces. It recovers blown out windows with none of the messy artefacts others have. Can't recommend it highly enough - to the extent that it is one of the few apps that have no LR or PS integration that I will still use everyday.

A really fab application - the last version introduced unique features letting you micro-control the colour highlight areas. Was a really useful touch that makes life much easier.

So looking forward to the new version.

Is the SNS-HDR software a Windows only or does it offer a Mac OSX version too?

I tried to download the free limited version but it would not download!!
