Pentax K-5 Body costs 1349€ at fotokoch.de
Pentax K-5 Body + Tamron AF 3,5-6,3/18-200 XR Di II Pentax costs 1299€

WHY is that?
Just thought you might find it interesting!

Greetings, Kevin

that is very strange. it is tempting to buy the kit and then sell the lens separately off to someone else!

Although most shops have it for 1199€.
Maybe the 1349€ is a mistake of your shop, it's quite expensive.

where the hell would I get a K-5 for 1112€?
The cheapest Body I can find with preissuchmschine.de is 1200€ minimum...

Greetings!
Kevin

.. it occurs to me that the majority of existing Pentax shooters would normally be interested in a body only purchase - they already have their lenses. Newcomers to Pentax need a lens. The logic is obvious - Pentax are more interested in attracting new users than looking after existing customers. Once you're tied into their system they're happy to use your money to finance their market share aspirations. Oh dear, does that sound too negative? Sad but true.

Sorry but since it's a Tamron lens there is no logic in your logic.
Maybe the store is trying to ditch the Tamron 18-200.
Maybe it was a mistake.

Luis

I fail to follow YOUR logic here. In Australia where i live, the Pentax importer just happens to be the Sigma importer as well. The early DSLR Pentax kits here highly favoured the Sigma lenses. For a while it was almost impossible to get a Pentax lens out of them - they certainly carried very poor stocks - but they always had, and seemed to push, the Sigma lenses. My point is that without knowing "behind the scenes" associations and agreements between different manufacturers, you can't know what marketing deals might be put together. I can't understand this particular site's language so can't delve any deeper there.
Maybe the store is trying to ditch the Tamron 18-200.
Maybe it was a mistake.
Maybe lots of things, maybe tomorrow will be Easter Sunday - but I'll stick with my initial hypothesis.
Regards,
Luis

I paid HK$10,500 here in HK. That is close to 1019 Euros...

I would not expect you to find much lower until the initial deliveries have been snapped up (pre-orders etc).

And worth every dollar so far... very impressed.

1019€ , that's cheap! Only now the combo seems to cost 1579€, maybe that 1379 was a mistake.
