I would like to thank everyone for their comments on the S230. My girlfriend wants to present me a digital camera, the only thing I needed to do was to let het know which one. Going through the big world of digital cameras I immediate fell in love with the S230 and all your comments convinced me this is a good choice. it's compact, and from the pictures I have seen on the internet posted by you I am happely surprised by the quality of these pictures (and small movies)

Only problem : I am from Holland and it seems this camera will cost about $700 here.

As her sister lives in NY I have asked her sister to buy the S230 and I have presented my girlfriend (and myself) a ticket to NY.

I paid $300 for the two tickets, ordered a Viking Compact Flash card of 256MB for the amount of $85 (which will cost me about $180 in Europe)
so it still seems I am much better off, even going to NY to buy this camera.

Thanks again and I hope I can post my pictures (Macy's Parade) when I come back !

Good luck and have a safe trip. I think you will like the S230, it really is a nice portable camera. I wonder how it will do in the cold, as it has a metal body. Can't wait to see your pics of the parade and NY!

Thanks ! I can meanwhile test the camera in the cold and give you my opinion..(I assume it will be cold in NY in November)
