Hello there, new member here.

Impressed with the LX5 I decided to make my first post here. Used to DSLR's D700 and K-7 I decided to buy a point and shoot. Expected nothing...we are talking a very tiny chip here...raw, hmm how would these files hold up...

After two weeks of shooting with the LX5 I am in shock. The lens and raw files and flexibility of the camera are really GOOD...is my Pentax k-7 going to eat dust...well we will see.

Just came back from a paragliding trip to the Dolomites. Lot's of flying so not much time for photography. Want to share some first LX5 images here:

wow and am not sure if it is the camera in your hands or its you with the camera in the place but all together makes a great imagery !!! do you remember the name of the places you were ?> the one with the wooden statue seems to be Ortizei, and the other church remind me St. Cristina, but they are all alike so i could be wrong... YES, the scenerey in my part of world is awesome... glad you enjoyed it !!! best of luck !

Beautiful scenery, well captured! Very nice. I like the wooden statue pointing at the mountains in particular.

I just got an LX5 also and I'm also quite impressed with it. Great IQ, which I expected since I also have an S90, but the handling, setup, and flexibility of this little camera are quite amazing. I can see using it most of the time over my ep2 and just using the ep2 when I want to shoot something that requires a telephoto, ultra wide angle, or really low light shooting, which it does so well with the Pany 20mm f1.7 lens. But I could see the LX5 moving into the main camera slot for almost any normal shooting in decent light.

Jeroen,

Fantastic pictures and a great time to be in the Dolomites. My wife and I drove there last year from England for some via ferrata and had a great time. Scenery is second to none. Looks a bit like Cortina area.

I have yet to get my LX5 but all these positive comments and pictures are helping my decision.

Very nice. These compacts are certainly capable of getting it right. Expose for your highlights though :)

DSLR users have it in their head that bigger is better. That is not always the case.

Hi Jereon,

As others have said, just superb images. I have just bought a LX5 to use when I do not wish to carry my D300s.

RAW, and of course the lens, was a big selling point, so may I ask what convertor and software you used?

Thanks.

Hey there,

Thanks for the good comments on my first photo's here. And Michael your edit really made me laught!! Good one!

One of the things I totally not expected from a "inferior" point and shoot was dynamic range....the DR on the LX5 is VERY good!

I process in LR3.2 and I think the color are good, what are your experiences...did you had any needs for a custom color profile?

Greetings,

Jeroen

No.5 is that Punta Fiames near Cortina D'Ampezzo? I climbed there about 5 years ago using the via ferrata. It's a stunning place.
