Again thank you everyone!

I was trying to think of a good challenge that I can't remember doing all these years we've been at this. I didn't check so, it might possibly be a repeat, but tough! HAHAHA! Actually I got the idea from the challenges going on with the DPR website. I noticed someone had put 2 'doors' themes coming up in the future and possibly you could enter an Oly challenge shot in that challenge too. Why not!

I might have different rules I didn't read the other challenges rules. I think as long as it really says 'door' when we look at it, that's good enough for me. It could be a door to the future, a door step, a door knob, hinge, or door paint (if you really can see it was off a door it would be nice). Anyways, you just go out there and get some awesome shots like always...the door's wide open!

Challenge runs from October 20th to November 1st at 9pm GMT.

Voting will start immediately after, and run till Wednesday November 3rd at 9pm GMT.

Please add your name after the title (makes voting easier), and make the image 800 pixels or less on the long edge, no larger than 200kB. Pbase let us run these challenges free on their website, so please respect this by keeping your file size reasonable. Ensure the EXIF data is intact for the competition, with the date it was taken.

To post a photo in either gallery; just select the gallery of choice from below: Competition or Exhibition (popularly called the X gallery). On the top of the page you will see "edit this gallery", click on that and it will ask for a password. Enter "kickass" (don't ask, just keep it lower case) and you should be able to make it from there. If you still need assistance, ask and you shall be answered. Sometimes the answer is even the right one!

Newcomers are totally welcome - Just post here if you need assistance to get images into the gallery or if you are not certain what's going on. We all started off clueless and make the same mistakes. For some guidance on what sort of shots fit what sort of themes, just do a search here on 'challenge' in the subject and browse the past competitions.

Welcome back! ... and congratulations!

The video of your grandson is just so cute. It is going to be hard to get him to eat (just all faces :-) He must bring a lot of joy to your family - so happy for you.

couple in ex. I thought I would find a ton of pictures of doors - it is funny I have a lot of entryways/ exits but very few doors. There is some psycho - logical thing at work there I am sure :-)

Good theme!

I have to tell the truth and say it wasn't my first choice, your other one with the skeleton at the window was !!

I shall now see what I can do with this theme :-)

Isn't he fun, little Zachary! How many grandkids do you have Brent? I know you have at least 1 little granddaughter, I'm sure I've seen her in photos. I recall a wedding you photographed and she wasn't at all happy with striking a pose. :o)) Its so fun, especially when they hit around 2 years old and start asking questions and giving opinions. My other grandkids are all comedians.

That's funny about the doors, maybe you have a very open mind so doors just aren't allowed. :o)

Thanks for being around for me over these past few months, everyone was supportive and I was so afraid. I just don't want to go yet. I wish I never had to leave. I like it down here.

I can't wait to see your door shots Brent.

brought out a lot of very awesome shots, I'm still a bit surprised only because I was loving a lot of other shots. You know how it is, always the most critical of your own work. "I shoulda done this, I shoulda done that" When I see other shots I love it is, "I wish I could have taken this, I wish I could have taken that". LOL

Colin, I thought you might love this one with your model work.

Congrats on the win. I'm happy to see that you emerged from the depths with the effervescence that we've all come to know and appreciate. :)

I must also say, this theme swings open right into my comfort zone. Do doors lead us away or toward, out of or into something? Both of course! Anyway, I have tons of doors in my archives and pulled out three from just last month for the X (though you'll have to take my word for it that there's an open door at the far end of one of them). I also shot a few this morning, of my usual timeworn sort - maybe there'll be a comp entry in there.

I'm doing a lot of portfolio shoots at the moment, so far when I have tried to work a theme into a shoot the reaction of the model has been very positive and they enthusastically participate - although one or two have said "huh?" :-)

Now I've just got to think of something that involves doors with my next victim - oops, I mean model.

Colin

you have lots of time to play around or find new doors and if you like a new one better, entries aren't in stone so you can switch em out. I think I might have a door from today myself. We'll see. I quite liked your door shots so far!

...exhibition, but you already saw them and one in competition. Somebody might think some pics aren't on theme, but My brain works on strange wave length sometimes :-)

Miro, what a boring world it would be if all our brains worked on the same wavelength! Having said that my entries in the exhibition are pretty conventional but I have a couple of ideas for the competition that might work out if circumstances permit.

Cheers, Barry
