LX5 - Extra Battery

Good point, but you would have thought they had learned all of this the first go around with the LX3.
I don't understand that either; it is as if they didn't expect anyone would want to purchase a 2nd battery or something?
The price at the Panasonic National Parts Center (800-833-9626) is $49.95, plus shipping ($8.95 and up) and tax. Unfortunately, they don't expect to have any in stock until Nov. 20. Ridiculous!
They didn't expect to sell alot of LX3 cameras in early 2009 and you couldn't buy any for awhile. High demand, low-to-no stock.

Again, Panasonic is underestimating the market.

I must confess, I sometimes/often wonder why we do any business with a company that offers such sh* ty service as Panasonic. All my three cameras are Panasonic. How could I be so #$ @! stupid?!

Re: For DMC-LX5 application:

Having four (instead of three) electrical terminals on the battery (not to mention an integrated-circuit "chip" inside the battery) would certainly help! ... ;)

On the other hand, if you were interested in this battery for use in a DMC-LX3 (or one of the many other cameras that use it), BlueNook.com manufactures and sells an equivalent battery (that uses a Japanese manufactured battery cell) for a mere $9.99 USD guaranteed for a full 5 years time after purchase ...

Does anyone know the difference between model BCJ13E and model BCJ13PP battery that came with the camera? Are they interchangeable?

I asked once be fire and was told one is for Europe, the other for USA/Canada.

Not sure if interchangeable but others have bought direct from Japan and they worked on LX5 USA models

I don't think this could work for the LX5, since it also lists the LX3's battery. There was a misconception that they would use the same battery, but they don't, and aren't interchangeable.

Great, thanks for posting this! I figured there would be reasonably-priced clones available, but the long wait had me wondering. Just couldn't bring myself to pay the ebay seller buyfromjapan their hefty price of well over $70 (with shipping) since there was no emergency. I would imagine their business for these batteries is about to take a nosedive...8^).

I ordered two...figuring I'd want two anyway, and there's a price break, if they don't work it's as easy to get a refund for two as one. I really doubt there will be any problems with them working.

While they won't be here for my Yosemite fall visit, thanks to Trevmar's post

I now have a spare charger that will work from the car 12v outlet (it does fit perfectly both the LX5 and ZS3 batteries).

That is interesting. The camera I bought from Amazon.com has model BCJ13PP included. The B&H and Samy's websites show model BCJ13E. Perhaps it doesn't matter, but I was just curious.
