I've been using my G10 but am not happy with my results.
  1. 1 It's to slow
  2. 2 the zoom is to small
  3. 3 not the best in low light.
  1. 4 They will not let me in with my 50D and 70-200 f2.8 i guess it has spoiled me.
All the events have this on the tickets "Regular personal cameras are permitted less than a 3" lens" really don't give me many choices.

The Nikon P7000 is just like the G12, it appears to use the same sensor even, but has a longer zoom range (up to 200mm equivalent I think) which is longer than the g11/g12.

It just came out, and there have been some negative reviews about getting error messages in the normal operation of the camera, but no complaints about it's actual image quality so far.

I think it's aperture range as you zoom is equivalent to the g11/g12, with it having the same values at the same range, then getting worse low-light values after you zoom past that.

But the fact is, low light is the opposite of "lots of zoom"...without bringing an > $1000 lens and a dslr, that may be about as good as you can get!

The Panasonic LX5 has perhaps the best low-light lens available, it's f2.0 at wide angle and even all the way zoomed out it's f3.3. But - it's less zoom range than a g11/g12, I think it's 90mm equivalent? 80mm? It's certainly less zoom, not more...

Even though it's notorius for being bad in low light conditions, I've gotten good results from my G9 at concerts. (link to flickr in my sig)

The 11 & 12 are supposed to be far superior in low light conditions.

I took my new S95 to a concert i Copenhagen last night. This is an example of what the S95 can do in low-light at ISO800 - not perfect, but ok for such a small package.

I think this is quite good. You are being modest. This could be on a album cover for their next release! Nice pic!
