A55 Availability?

Hi,

I was all ready to buy an A55 since they seem to be filtering out, i checked sony.co.uk and they were, seemingly, in stock. But now RGBphoto lists 19th november for the kit and unspecified for the body. Parkcamera says late september, Jessops is back to preorder and neither camera even appears on sony.co.uk as of 2 minutes ago. They were there yesterday in the "intermediate" section because i did a spec comparison with a couple of other cameras. Does any one know if there's anything going on....or know any website with stock?

A couple of websites are quite good and show stock levels and/or ETAs but a lot of others just have a "buy" option and no warning when going to the basket...i'm unconvinced they have stock if jessops doesnt.

I want to start shooting DSLR!! might have to buy an A33 out of impatience.
 
Hi Strat,

Sorry to hear about this but here in the states the official ship date for the A55 is for next week October 10th. If you seriously cannot wait, you may just have to purchase the A33 in the meanwhile...

Sonyalpharumors.com just rumored that the A55 would be in stock next week in the USA. Based on the level of stock for the A33 in the US and the A55 worldwide, I imagine preorders for the A55 will be shipped rather soon.

However, I'm going on a trip on Oct. 11, and I doubt I'll have an A55 in my hands before then.
 
Thanks you two. I thought it would come out in roughly the first week of october (since those were the previous rumours) but the in-stock-out-of-stocking the last two days and a reputable sites kit projection of late november has thrown me. I would prefer an A55, but i dont care about the tiny differences enough to wait 2 months. Sony usually puts products out in europe and the UK before the US...i hope they havent put the US market first based on the good reviews.

Oh well, i'll wait another week and see what's going on then
 
What's up with Sony in the US and UK?

I don't get it.

Just walked past a camera shop in Zürich this evening and both A33 and A55 were on display in the window?

The same shop has a 'come-and-try' event tomorrow with Sony technicians. I'll be there to have a look at the new cameras.

Sony My rep told me they were shipping the first week of Oct. (I hope tomorrow) I have 4 customers that want one!
 
One of the posters on Dyxum bought one in his "local shop" today. That's great. But I'm more than a little upset that they didn't fulfill the pre-orders of those of us who ordered on the announcement day before putting them on store shelves.

That's the last time I'll order anything from Sony Style.

October and November. I remember reading this in some initial announcements.
 
I've had the A55V on order from SonyStyle in The Netherlands since 10 September.

I called them today and they say they have a new batch in stock, and that mine should be delivered next week.

Hafo in The Hague have a demo day of A55 and A33 tomorrow 2 October.
 
I just called my local SonyStyle store to ask, and they said that they're still "not expecting A55 in stock until mid-October".
