*** Mini Challenge #277 ~ Tasty Food ***

Thanks for the suggestion. I actually played with the WB on both of those in Aperture (I shoot everything RAW, so its all available). The grapefruit looks more natural with the WB adjusted and you could argue its better either way, but I sort of like it the way it is better even though its less natural looking - the spoon jumps out a little bit more with this less natural WB and I slightly prefer it this way.

The tart, when adjusted for the blown out white spot at the base of the wine glass, just looks flat and dead. It looks much more inviting as is. The grapefruit is arguable in terms of which works better. I don't think there's even a question on the tart though.

An artist should not be told how to do his art, the beauty of his art is in his eyes. I was just giving a hint in case you didn't notice. But if it works for you, it works for me.

thanks, Sueanne for your comments. you are right. it's worth tasting this course & I can assure you, that ones you tast each of them, you won't have a spare place for the meat, but go straight ahead for the 3rd course = coffee & cake...
regards,
Ami

I really can't remember the lighting for that shot as I don't do many set up picys but I can remember doing some "painting with light" type shots where the subject has no lighting whatsoever & you just use a small torch (flashlight) to sort of paint the subject during a long exposure. It seems to have that look.

But I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes some time later so don't have too many:-) Mind you I have convinced myself that it was caused from all the sugared tea I would drink every day so I have cut out the sugar & still enjoy an ice cream espresso, at my age it's better than you know what:-)
Regards Rod

Thanks Mohammad. You almost "hit the target". I'm not from an Arab country, but from Israel, where we have, of course, Arab citizens, who tought us a lot about their foods & I can assure you that many many of us like it very much & for years now many non Arab people here became great fans of the orient food & eat it even at their home. (it's also being prepared by them )

b.t.w. what you see in photo #1 is a plate we ordered in a Bedouin "restaurant", that it's business is taking place in a big Bedouin tent at the Galilee. A very romantic place indeed.
all the best & regards,
Ami

After two, it's hard to hold the camera steady.

Fantastic subject!! I love taking pictures of food. It was hard for me to pick just 3, and the ones I did choose were not only for the picture itself, but the food was memorable. All prepared by me.

Thanks for looking.

Beef tenderloin with Chanterelle mushrooms

Smoked ribs with corn on the cob and potato salad

Garden fresh tomatoes and basil

I would love to try the dessert espresso and the tomato is very nicely done.

I remember seeing that before, great shot!!

Three great shots Sueanne, but I am totally captivated by that prime rib!!!! It looks so delicious.

Jim the sandwiches look really interesting, I have not had anything like that before. The strawberries steal the show, they look fantastic dipped in white chocolate!!
